Any news on who might pick up Donnie Edwards?

Recommended Posts

I understand AJ wants to trade him since he still has value, but I believe Donnie has at least another two years in him.

His contract ends in 2007, and Chargers aren't planning on renewing his contract. So I guess a trade is the best thing to do. Who is gonna take his place is question.

I haven't heard anything about Minnesota. Two places he could end up would be with the Cowboys or Giants. Parcells has a love of older players, especially linebackers that can tackle. The Giants need a linebacker in a bad way.

I'm sure Edwards is going to want to play for a winner. The Cowboys would give him his best shot. If he only wants money, Green Bay and the 49'ers lead the pack with cap $$$$ left. Neither of them are going to the playoffs this season though.

If I were betting, I'd say he either ends up in Dallas, New York, Carolina (they need a backer too), or even New England. The Patriots have plenty of room under the cap and he plays in a 3-4 now, so there would be no adjustment.

Does anyone understand what the hell the Chargers are doing? Seems to me like they miss the days of picking in the top 5.

Personally I would love for him to end up in Detroit... I think he still has a few years left at least, and our LB corps is anything but great... adding the 4th leading tackler in the league could definitely help, regardless of his age.

yeah, for the right price. but i don't think you give up a first-day draft choice for a 33-year-old player, who, at that age, can be considered nothging but a stop-gap.

a 2nd-day pick? sure.
