Odie 0 Posted April 30, 2006 Please.... We did get beat by a very good team who got hot at the right time. The devils did what was needed to be done... fact is - Rangers had 10 rookies in the lineup - Jagr dislocated his shoulder, which devasted any chance for the rangers. - Lundqvuist had a hip flexor and was nowhere near 100%. - Kasper was playing with an injured groin, in the games he did play. - Ruchinsky, Rucchin were playing hurt, had it not been the playoffs, they wouldnt have played at all - lost our on of our best Pk Guy in ward in game 1 as well Grant, had all these guys been the lineup healthy the devils still would have been favored... but i would have loved to watch a series between these two teams with an even playing field. Oh yeh... we hit 10 posts and had Ozosuck in the lineup

Oh yeh... we hit 10 posts and had Ozosuck in the lineup I think it had more to do with the fact that the Rangers ran into a team playing red hot, at a time when the Rangers were playing their worst hockey of the year. Injuries played a role, but it does for every team. The Rangers really just lost their mojo at the Olympic break, and they never got it back.
Odie 0 Posted May 1, 2006 2006 NY Islanders 0 playoff wins 2006 NY Rangers 0 playoff wins. carry on. 2006 NY Islander Playoff Appearances 0 2006 NY Ranger Playoff Appearances 1 Also.. nothing i said was an " excuse " .... just the facts... Do i think the rangers , with a full squad would have beating a devil team who won 11 in a row coming into the series... prob not... but i think it would have been a helluva series to watch. davebg 0 Posted May 1, 2006 I can't understand why everyone is so ready to dump on the NYR. They hadn't made the playoffs in YEARS and this season they almost won the division title...with almost 1/2 the starting roster consisting of rookies by the end of the season. This season was a HUGE step in the right direction for a franchise that has been lost pretty much since they won the Cup in 94.
56 0 Posted May 1, 2006 I can't understand why everyone is so ready to dump on the NYR. They hadn't made the playoffs in YEARS and this season they almost won the division title...with almost 1/2 the starting roster consisting of rookies by the end of the season. This season was a HUGE step in the right direction for a franchise that has been lost pretty much since they won the Cup in 94. Good points. I think that even the Rangers themselves were a bit surprised at how well they played this year, but so much had to do with Jagr. He looked great, and clearly is not near the end of the line. He says he wants to play for another 5 years. I just wonder what they do from here. Do they continue to build with youth and hope that the youngsters bloom before Jagr starts to slide, or do they go back to the free agency route? In the past, that has burned them really bad, but for the 1st time in a long while, the Rangers will be looking for players to compliment what they already have in place, not create a new core. They have lots of cap space this offseason, so it could go either way. I guess I would like to see them just add 1 solid, physical defensemen (Chara would be perfect) and maybe another forward who can score. Also, the Rangers could use a 2nd or 3rd line gritty wing with some toughness. If I had to guess right now, I would bet the Rangers make a strong run at Chara and try to continue with the Czech thing and sign Patrik Elias. Also, they likely will look to acquire a North American veteran player with some leadership skills. This team has no captain, and is heavy on soft spoken Europeans, so they could use a veteran guy with intangibles.
