Rumor: Chiefs trade for Michael Bennett

Recommended Posts

This thread is funny. The "ONLY" reason the Priest started the last few seasons at RB over L.J. was because of head coach D!ck Vermeil's loyalty and love for his buddy Holmes. New head coach Herm Edwards has no loyalty biases towards Holmes, and he is not dumb enough not to rush the h<ll out of L.J. if he wants to win. Why would any head coach with a lick of sense bring in a washed up, bum necked, RB like Holmes, when he has one of the best young RB's in the league today? Edwards it not dumb folks and he is not a Priest a$$ kisser like Vermeil was.

he doesnt have to be, there is room for both of them on the team and snaps to appease both. LJ cannot carry the load 35 times a game, and it only makes sense to have the better pass-catcher and blocker in during passing downs.

Exactly, which is why L.J. will be in the game durring passing downs.

if you think LJ is a superior blocker than Priest, you are misinformed. If you think LJ is a better pass-catcher, your are misinformed. There were times last year LJ would be back there in pass protection, and the defender would just run right by him. About the only knock on LJ is his blocking, but I'm sure it will get better in time.

And if you think that KC is better off with Priest in at RB over L.J. in any situation, then you are a numb nuts. Did you watch both guys play at all last season?

agree. he is an extremely gifted runner and great for fantasy purposes, but he has a LONG way to go in other aspects (especially pass blocking which was horrific).

all 16 games, as well as 3 of the 4 preseason games as well as attended training camp. Priest isn't the back that he once was, and LJ is just flat out a monster. But to say LJ is a complete back at this point in his career is also a stretch, he has a lot of room for improvement in pass blocking. Priest doesn't.

Finally you see the light. Why even contemplate playing a washed up, old fart, bum necked Holmes, unless you have no choice due to L.J. getting injured? "IF" Holmes comes back this season, Edwards will have him on the :P most, if not all of the time while L.J. shines.

Seriously. The next thing we're going to hear is that they're trading Culpepper......no.....that would be crazy.

Totally agree here. All the signs point to Padre having a nice retirement this year.

1. Spinal injury - who wants to be the coach who calls the play that one of the great RBs of our time becomes parylized on? Not Herm Edwards, bank on that.

2. At this time, Priest is not cleared to practice, or play. Consider the shape he'll be in when the season starts - most NFL RBs train year round, and Priest hasn't don't jack since the middle of last year.

3. Restructuring Priest's contract to what, $800K? That reeks of a "going away/retirement gift".

4. Bringing in additional RBs - the clearest sign yet that the Chiefs are preparing for the 2006 season without Holmes.

Stick a fork in him - Priest is done.

Agree.

Adam Teicher knows more about the Chiefs than you or I do

IMPACT NEWCOMER: FB Ronnie Cruz assumes a most important role -- lead blocker in short-yardage and goal-line situations -- from the departed Tony Richardson. Cruz has the ability to do the job, but don't assume the transition will be seamless. Cruz can't be expected to handle the job like the much more experienced Richardson, and the Chiefs may suffer until he settles into the job. Cruz also will be asked to be a primary pass protector, at least until the Chiefs feel comfortable with Larry Johnson in that role. Richardson also was under-appreciated for his skill as a pass protector, so Cruz again will need to get up to speed quickly.
