Went to the mental institution tonight

No sillies, not for me.... or not directly for me. My home group at AA helps facilitates meetings there once in a while and this is the first time I've been and didnt' know quite what to expect.

 

So I walked in and first thing I hear is this guy who is sitting by the door go "Oh Yeah - Woo - Hoo" and I'm thinking, ###### that is almost as bad as coming out of the convenient store yesterday and having some dude that I don't know whos just hanging out tell me he loves me. There were others talking to themselves and some just chillin like they were just hanging out. All I want to do at this point is turn around.

 

But, I sat down and looked around and there was a huge mixture in there of guys/gals that looked normal and some that were obviously lifers... I told a part of my story and when the meeting was over a few people in there came up to me and said thank you and gave me a hug. Then I realized that had I not gotten help when I did, that would have been me in there, probably so.

 

It just put a lot into perspective you know what I mean. I was glad I went and will more than likely go back.
