Here in my neck of the woods, I can get a 5,000 sq. ft. brick house on .6 acres of wooded lot with all the upgrades in the nicest school district with a $450,000 price tag. Of course about 1K /month is taxes and ins. alone at a 6.25% interest rate on a 30 yr. note. Of course, I just happen to know someone with that situation.
