Maier was just some stupid kid who did something wrong. Rich Garcia is the one who I believe intentionally blew a fairly easy call. He should not have been umpiring that game due to his hatred of the Orioles and Robby Alomar. The next day, Garcia is signing autographs for fans and saying "I can't believe I got such an easy call wrong", yeah right.

Pitcher Scott Erickson, who started the game for the Orioles and was in line to get the win before Armando Benitez served up the fateful pitch in the eighth inning to Jeter, said he hopes Maier makes it to the major leagues, "just so I can drill him -- I'd like to get one shot at him."

 

I guess he's still thinking about that day. Let it go Scott, let it go.

 

I don't think the Yankees would want him to do that. Infact I'm sure they would tell him not to.

And if he did anyway, I'm sure a few things would happen.

1. The Umpire would toss him out of the game.

2. If not than Torre would take him out of the game.

3. The next inning someone on the Yankees would be drilled and the benches would clear.

4. He would have to be suspended and fined by the league.
