ddies23 0 Posted June 2, 2006 I am having a difficult time deciding which player to retain from my squad. We can keep one player from our team, but not the same player you kept the previous year. I am not asking who I should keep here, rather does it make a difference on the position that is retained? Is it wiser to keep a Ronnie Brown over a Carson Palmer? Most teams keep a running back of course, so it would make sense to retain one as well since the draft will be short of them...or would it make more sense to keep a top player from another position and draft 2 running backs early....here are my choices... Carson Palmer Eli Manning Ronnie Brown Deshawn Foster Priest Marvin Harrison Randy Moss Santana Moss Anquin Boldin
Vermicious Knids 0 Posted June 2, 2006 In my opinion you answer your own question. You have to keep a RB as everyone else will so that pool is much smaller. You can not keep a wr as Look at what you obtained last year. 3 very solid WR's. QB's are Qb's. SO yes keep a RB.

Since the RB pool will be somewhat depleted at the time of your draft keeping an above-average RB is the way to go.
Jarvis Basnight 119 Posted June 2, 2006 Ronnie Brown is definitely the keeper out of this group. Demand is high on RB's so they'll be much more scarce. Everyone else will be keeping RB's so your hand is forced. You keep the RB just like everyone else does and then you take Carson Palmer in the draft. If it's a single keeper league you've got to keep a RB.
sharkie22 0 Posted June 2, 2006 Generally you would keep whichever player(s) offer your team the greatest advantage in terms of consistently scoring more points than other players at that same position. The reason most people keep backs is because there just aren't that many who get the touches, TD's and yardage (plus receptions if your in a PPR league) relative to how many must be used each week in a FF league. Barring injuries (which are unavoidable) approximately 1/3 of the leagues teams are prone to use some form of committee in their backfield. So if your league has 12 teams and you must start two RB's then it makes sense that some teams will not have a third relatively productive back to maintain scoring during bye weeks or to fill in for injury or particularly bad matchup situations. On the other hand, most leagues only require one starting QB in their lineup so that position is easier to fill. At WR each NFL team has at least one, usually two and occassionally three productive receivers so it's much easier to have your roster staffed with decent options at that position week to week. Of course the biggest reason to keep backs, upper tier backs that is, is because they simply provide greater value and stats than the other positions based on most fantasy scoring rules. Assume a top back will be good for around 100 combined yards each week and almost a TD per plus several receptions and you've got a consistent 20 ish points (HP scoring). Receivers are typically more hit and miss so it's the consistency that makes the difference.
Portis26 0 Posted June 2, 2006 I would keep Ronnie Brown - but since you are not asking that.. I say keep a RB.
