Brunell Breaks Finger, Will Miss 2-3 Weeks

ASHBURN, Va. -- Washington Redskins quarterback Mark Brunell has a small fracture in his left index finger and is expected to miss two to three weeks of offseason workouts.

Brunell was hurt during a workout earlier this week, but the team did not announce the injury until Friday. Because Brunell is left-handed, he will have to sit out most of the remaining spring practices, although he might return in time for the June 16-18 minicamp.

The 35-year-old Brunell is expected to be ready for the start of training camp in late July.

Brunell is coming off one of his best seasons. He threw for 23 touchdowns and 10 interceptions to help lead the Redskins to their first playoff appearance since 1999.

Brunell is the STARTER - end of story!!

This is perfect IMO - gives Campbell some quality time at the helm

- Gives him a chance to be a vocal leader.

- Allows him to establish trust with his teammates with regards to his ability to lead this team.

- Allows the coaches to get a good evaluation

All in all - this isn't a bad thing

Cambell will probably end up being a good QB in the league, but Brunell is indeed the man this year.

That old fart has zero chance of making it though the season.

What's the over/under on brunell games played?

I'd say 8, and I will consider taking the under.

He has a better chance of starting 16 games than the Eagles have of winning the Superbowl this year !

If you mean just playing vs. starting I'll take that wager.

red flag on all WASH offensive players until we know he can throw without any ill effects?

I seem to recall Warner not being the same for a year+ after breaking his pinky....

probably nothing to worry about, but then again, some people worry more than me.

No big deal. Brunell is just a backup fantasy QB anyway. He is only a bye week filler.

Indeed, but it wouldn't be Brunell I'd be worried about from a FFB perspective - it'd be Portis & SMoss that could be impacted by it.

too much hype over a small injury. but he is very injury prone and is getting old, so we will see how this turns out. but its not too big of a fantasy QB, so its nothing big at all.
