J-Money 4 Posted June 10, 2006 http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2477706 Williams runs for 46 yards in Argos' final exhibitionAssociated Press HAMILTON, Ontario -- Argonauts running back Ricky Williams ran for 46 yards on 11 carries but had a critical fumble as the Hamilton Tiger-Cats defeated Toronto 21-11 on Friday night in the final CFL exhibition game for both teams. Williams, who joined the CFL after he was suspended for a year by the NFL for a fourth violation of the league's drug policy, was more productive than his exhibition debut last weekend, when he had 7 yards on three carries. The former Miami Dolphins back started in this game and played three quarters before giving way to John Avery. His fumble in the second quarter set up Jason Maas' 34-yard touchdown pass to D.J. Flick on the final play of the first half, giving Hamilton a 10-0 lead. Williams' longest run of the night went for 8 yards. Toronto and Hamilton open the regular season next Saturday. i thought he would tear through the league, not a great way to end preseason. not bad game ydg wise, but fumbling and only getting 7 yds last week. RW was always the kind of runner that got stronger as the game went on and with the more rushes he got. I'm certain he will do fine once he gets going and adjusted to new league rules, etc... plus, it's only preseason...
remote controller 143 Posted June 10, 2006 He lost it a few years back. What a fruitcake! The truest thing this guy ever did was appear in a wedding dress with Ditka.
traders2001 0 Posted June 10, 2006 He might end up finishing his career in the CFL. He is seriously playing his NFL future this season , imagine he ends up with a 4,0 ypc and 6 to 8 TDs you think any NFL team will be interested . In the CFL a decent RB has at least a 5,0 ypc average.
Jay 0 Posted June 10, 2006 Geez. In the NFL, they are allowed pre-season games to get kinks out of your game. New team, new structure, first game.....seriously, what did you expect?

In the CFL a decent RB has at least a 5,0 ypc average. a big factor playing against him is the lack of running while they get 5,0 ypc, they only get about 15 carries the leading rusher usually has a stat line like 300-1500-10 splitting time will make Ricky look pretty bad, especially if he has a low ypc receiving is more important for a RB in the CFL than the NFL as well which also doesn't bode so well for Ricky i doubt he has the numbers like he does in the NFL and he could end up there till the end, after all he will be coming back as a 30 year old RB possibly after a subpar season in the CFL
lennie75 0 Posted June 10, 2006 Ricky will be back in the NFL...he is not playing for his NFL career. He is valued in the NFL because he can run the ball 25 times a game and catch the ball 5 times. This will not happen in the CFL so don't expect it to.

New team, new structure, first game.....seriously, what did you expect? yea its a totally new system, field and everything. he just has to get used to everything. give it time. he will be back in the NFL, as long as he stays away from the reefer (like that will ever happen). devildog 0 Posted June 11, 2006 If you question Ricky's skills then you have to question Ronnie Brown's as well, cause Ricky clearly outplayed him down the stretch last year.

Ricky has a drug problem, but he is the prototype NFL style RB. A guy who can take enough of a beating to withstand 20-25 carries a game in the regular season, and in the playoffs if his team gets there.
murf74 461 Posted June 11, 2006 OK, Ricky has been with the team for about, what 15 days? Still learning the playbook, still learning to read his new oline. And let's not forget, you still need blockers to run no matter who you are. 11 carries with over 4 yards per carry average? Not too shabby if you ask me. Translate that to a full game and you get probably 25 carries and over 100 yards.
J-Money 4 Posted June 11, 2006 sorry, but i have to admit i had just gotten home from the bar and wuz drunk when i read and posted this. when i first read it i didn't realize it wuz so little carries that's when i edited it to say it wuz decent ypc. so i fvcked up the title, if i'd been sober it woulda just been a RW read... that said, he should still run them all over
What is the deal? 1 Posted June 11, 2006 I remember hearing the same things last preseason when Ricky sucked. Then he went on to have a decent year for a part-time RB.
TIKI-BARBERS-BARBER 0 Posted June 12, 2006 Problem with Williams the last two years is he's off the juice and on the other stuff. Ricky use to be a speedy brusing rb but he lost so much weight over the last two years that he goes down with one hit. He will brake some long runs in the cfl this year but he will also have alot of 1 yard runs.
RW34 0 Posted June 12, 2006 Ricky hasn'tost it he scorched the league at the end of last year when Ronnie got hurt, and played above average after the first couple games he's only had 2 weeks to get into football shape so its not a surprise he didnt have huge games i was at the first game and he only had 4 carries, once having back to back carries so it was pretty much impossible to get into a groove, he delivered 2 pretty tough stiff arms to defenders too and one carry the line didn't block anyone and defenders had a free shot at him behind the LOS wait until he's had a bit more time to get in shape and atleast played 1 regular season game before you go writing his career off
Redstone 0 Posted June 12, 2006 I plugged him into the lineup for my week 15 super bowl last year and he ran for a buck sixty.
