nos23 1 Posted July 10, 2006 thinking about drafting two elite wide receivers with my first two picks, hopefully steve smith and terell owens. the problem is my next two picks would have to be running backs, what backs would be availble going by mock drafts so far this year? LSUtiger 9 Posted July 10, 2006 I'm not sure where backs have been going thus far but just giving my two cents on your proposed strategy, I wouldn't go the WR WR route. WRs, while potentially dangerous, are just too inconsistent for you to count on throughout the season. I think it's vital to get at least one quality back with those first two picks. I'm sure you could get a Ronnie Brown, Cadillac Williams, etc. type with one of those first two. If not, you risk not getting anyone of substance with either of your next two picks and reaching for guys just to fill the needs.
einstein2u 0 Posted July 10, 2006 you are better serve to get RB/RB.....rudi johnson and caddy...and follow that my with chambers and wayne...than TO/SS...and parker/dillion....imo

Gepetto 1,367 Posted July 10, 2006 where has ronnie brown been going in mock drafts Usually 9th or 10th overall pick. Sometimes he goes as high as 7 or 8.
mdubz 0 Posted July 11, 2006 wr/wr is a recipe for disaster. you might be able to catch a break and get a 2004 cumar type season from a guy in the 4th or 5th but i wouldn't rest my whole draft on that happening.

Yup. You have to at least take one running back with these picks. You will be unable to grab a decent running back when the serpentine comes back around. What always happens is that one or two WRs will break out early in the FF season, and can get picked up on waivers. For value purposes, picks 3 and 4 should be receivers, and 5-6 should include your QB, a solid backup RB, or an elite TE (other alternative, a 3rd WR if your league starts 3 WR, like mine). flowbee 0 Posted July 11, 2006 Depends on what league it is, how good it is...If its a Yahoo public or something, you have a lot more breathing room, where you can pick up #1 Rb's later than usual
biglou 2 Posted July 11, 2006 Unless you have some weird scoring favoring WR's I wouldn't go that way. You will either have the Caddy, R Brown, or Dillon waiting right there. You need to take at least one RB and if the TO or Smith is there, then you can consider taking them. Build your team around RB's. Three years ago I drafted Holt in the 3rd, 2 years ago I drafted Walker in the 3rd, and last year I drafted Fitzgerald in the 3rd. You can find WR's later, there are only 32 starting RB's and only about half of those are worth starting in fantasy football.
