ratbastard1 0 Posted July 16, 2006 Start 2 wrs? Not yet. He's raw but his redzone leaping ability might make up for some sloppy routes. Id be happy with him as my #3 with a solid vet #4. But not comfortable starting him yet.
ElvisMcCoy 0 Posted July 16, 2006 In a 12 team league I would take Matt Jones as my #3 but 10 or less teams no way.
biggamer3 0 Posted July 16, 2006 i have Plaxico, Andre Johnson and Matt in a 3 WR league we are in middle of a slow draft
tampa_fan_01 0 Posted July 16, 2006 I would say no. I believe he could be a breakout player in the next year or two, but Andre and Plax will be good starters for you this year.
49ER MAN 0 Posted July 16, 2006 I think Jones has nice upside seeing as he'll be the no.1 WR. However, will Leftwich stay healthy and will they want to run the ball more? I could see 800 yards and 6 TD's from Jones this year with a better upside in 2007. A decent no.3 on someone's squad.
lguero1 4 Posted July 17, 2006 i've got matt jones hanging on as a 4th receiver on a 12 team league that starts 3 WR/TE combination. i drafted reggie brown ahead of him and michael clayton behind him. i consider these three interchangeable and will go on weekly matchups. this is an interesting camp to watch because i also like wilford at jax. remote controller 143 Posted July 17, 2006 He is currently a wait and see #3 Wr, who could payout big dividends, to the owner that spends a little more on him on draft day, and hits. It comes down to the cajones!
What is the deal? 1 Posted July 17, 2006 you may have to start him every week in order to make sure you score mega points during those 140 yd 3 TD games... Other weeks he may have 20 yds receiving, that's the way it goes when you take a high upside pick... To the poster that has Reggie Brown and Matt Jones good luck deciding who to start... mr.shitty 0 Posted July 17, 2006 he could be come mid season or even ealier, but def not a guy you would want to bank on
Polamalu43 0 Posted July 17, 2006 He's a typical high risk high reward guy. I'd take him as a #3 WR because in league that start 3 WRs. It is always pretty easy to find a guy to fill that role if Jones doesn't meet expectations this year.
JREarly 0 Posted July 17, 2006 In both of my leagues we only start 2 WR's, so in my leagues I would take him as my #3 but rather as my #4 if I could get him there. He has the potential to have a nice year but you can't count on a guy who is unproven. Pick him up in the later rounds to ensure yourself a player with high potential and upside, but also make sure you keep an eye on the preseason and see how it goes down in Jax. HawgWild 0 Posted July 17, 2006 I think he is a good number 3 with number 2 potential... Not sure he is an every week player just yet.. I would have to look at his match up each week and then decide... JMHO
Cowboy918 0 Posted July 18, 2006 I think Jones has nice upside seeing as he'll be the no.1 WR. However, will Leftwich stay healthy and will they want to run the ball more? I would love to have Matt but he will probably go a bit early for me, I think you can get Wilford at a much better value
TIKI-BARBERS-BARBER 0 Posted July 18, 2006 He could actually be huge this year. Two things you got to remember in fantasy football for a player to breakout. 1 Talent and Jones has that. 2. Opportunity and with Smith not there he will get his shot. Only thing that worries me is Imo Leftwhich is a average qb.

I would love to have Matt but he will probably go a bit early for me, I think you can get Wilford at a much better value dude, if Wilford is going to be the #1 guy why is he sitting behind Reggie in practice and working out of the slot? Raider 84 29 Posted July 18, 2006 I think Jones is a big risk/reward type of player that has a lot of upside. Only time will tell.
Swim54 4 Posted July 18, 2006 I might get hammered for this but I think Reggie Williams might have the best value of the Jax's recievers. I guy has talent but has never been able to put it together. He is coming into his third year (should be a bit more polished) and is working with the first team. Every one is very high on Jones and Wilford but Williams might be the possession guy with enough speed to break the big one. Jone has all the talent but remember he was a QB in college and is still learning a new position. Just my thoughts
RamslovaMartzhata 3 Posted July 18, 2006 My stat projections for Matt Jones: 54 receptions, 750 yards receiving, 7 TD's. 14 rushes, 75 yards, 1 TD. 40 yds passing, 1 TD. As you can see his yards leave a little to be desired, but I think that you can count on a good number of TD's from him. 5 TD's as a rookie... not only to the NFL, but to the position... I think we can definteily see a decent improvement to those numbers with Jimmy Smith out of the picture. Pretty much right along the value of where he is being drafted. My Negro! 3 Posted July 18, 2006 I see Jones scoring 7-9 TDs this year. With Smith gone jones will provied a good red zone target
Zackattack 0 Posted July 18, 2006 I believe he is the tallest receiver in the league. He is fast too.
