Phillys Run D is looking a lot better by aquiring Darren Howard and the drafting of Broderick Bunkley. Something to take into consideration for playoff matchup Week 15. I know this a bit jumping the guy in a playoff system this is crucial.

my god, what else is going to pop up about Tiki to be worried about?

first his workload now his sched

seriously, he is tabbed as the #4 or #5 and if you feel this is worthy then he is your stud to be relied upon no matter what his sched is

if you dont feel he is worthy of that or you have concerns, do rankings or projections or something

it seems like everyday someone is out bashing Tiki here

Wow. You're gutsy saying anything other than positive about Tiki around here. You're liable to get your head torn off.

I'll give you my OPINION. Yes, it's a nasty schedule. The worst one for a RB this year. Personally I'd put Tiki 8th among RB's behind the big 3, Portis, Rudi, James, and Jackson.

Well I will say Tiki is a beast in a PPR league so there is my one positive about him. I'm not sure if I would put Rudi ahead of him in that scoring system. Seriously that sched is pretty bad.

You didn't mention anything about a scoring system. If you had mentioned PPR my order would have probably been quite different.

I'd pick those guys ahead of Tiki because I'm not expecting as much out of Tiki this year.

:first:

The only way i'll get barber is if i have a late first round pick and he drops to me (I might even have to wait till round 2 :D ). I've never had him on my team, i just don't have faith in the guy...This has to be the year he finally drops off, especially with that brutal schedule :ninja:

look at the sched LT had last year

thats no cake walk either but were people touting him to fail because of it?

no, im not trying to take any side here but saying that his sched is the reason he will fall apart is pretty lame

i have my opinion of him and its that he isnt top 5 material but it certainly isnt because ofhis sched

i honestly havent even looked at the scheds of my top 5 because when you take someone that high you play them every week regardless

people are seriously making excuses to bash him now

I don't use it to base my picks either. I said I don't have faith in the guy, never have and he's proven me wrong, but i just can't draft him, unless it's rediculously low (late first, early 2nd round pick). I just agree it's a brutal schedule and think it may keep him down a bit.

speaking of tomlinson's schedule here's how he fared against the tough d's:

09/18 @DEN 19/52/2

10/10 PIT 18/62/1

11/27 @WAS 25/184/3 (his best game against a tough d)

12/31 DEN 19/92/1

against some of the lesser teams he went:

10/23 @PHI 17/7/0

10/30 KC 17/69/0

12/04 OAK 25/86/0

12/24 @KC 14/47/0

I would still draft LT in the top 3. With the supposed tough schedule last year he didn't hit 100yds rushing in 11 of 16 games. The only thing that gave him decent stats were the 23 total tds. In NY Barber gives way to Jacobs around the goalline. Given that, i can't see barber getting near LT's numbers. Especially, as i stated earlier, with such a brutal schedule

exactly my thoughts

im not high on him due to vulturing, not because of wear or sched

with Jacobs out of the picture, in my books he's solid in the #4 slot and he is among the players where schedule doesnt matter

I'm more concerned with Eli than Tiki. Tiki will get his, he always does but Eli will be tested early and often in 2006.

I am sitting at 4 and I am looking for reasons to not take Tiki (maybe I will be wrong again!), but he just never seems like a guy I want to count on.

then do a positional ranking and find out who you do like in that spot

i have him and Edge much lower than most people do because i have doubts about the two of them

i may be wrong but at least at the end of the season i only have myself to blame if my team sucks

if im right though i can gloat at picking like a champ

Exactly my thoughts. I look at that schedule and think that it is very tough. However, I don't see a team on that schedule that are going to blow the Giants out, which in turn, takes the running game out of the equation. Tiki will get his touches, Jacobs will vulture, but when it matters the Giants will get Tiki the ball. I don't see him having the numbers of last season, but I see him as a top 5 back for ff purposes.

In a PPR league with playoffs in Weeks 15-16, I see a guy like Edge (easier schedule) or Lamont

(young legs/new offensive emphasizing power run game) being just as solid a pick with nicer playoff matchups.

It is far from a lame excuse. Tiki has hardly been the epitome of consistiency year over year. His last two years have been great without argument, but come on folks

In 2003 he got a whopping 2 rushing TDs and 1 recieving TD...

In 2001 he had a whopping 800 rushing yards and 4 TDs...

And he was a notorious fumbler up until 2004...

You guys jump on a band wagon quicker than you guys jump off sometimes. The man is a great running back, but he has hardly been a rock steady fantasy star like LT has been. His stats have been all over the place since he started.

Forgive people who have gotten burned in the past for not hoping on the Tiki bandwagon...

Tiki does not impress me for this year. Tough schedule...the Man Child potentially stealing more carries...and a Manning in the backfield... No thanks.. I would rather have Edge or Portis over Tiki.

You are missing the point. Some of thoses seasons Tiki was in a RBBC or playing behind demolished o-lines. Looking at his production back then would be almost like knocking Priest Holmes a couple years ago for his lack of production in Baltimore. Some of your other points, such as the Manning one, are actually pretty puzzling. The questions around Edge's o-line are FAR more concerning than anything regarding Tiki.

Actually LT sucked ass the last few weeks (FF Playoffs). So yes, either his schedule was hard at the end, or he wore down due to the difficult schedule.

AND

SA had an easy schedule. People, like yourself, laughed at the notion SA should be the #1 pick due to SOS. Well, it turned out SA was the better pick, and LT did break down. How much you want to blame LT slowing down late on the SOS is up to you, but it does matter.

I have posted this before, but here goes again:

It is still amazing to me that ffballers don't see Tiki as an unquestioned tier 1b Running Back.

Sure, scoring plays a role here and TD-only/TD heavy leagues will lessen the value of Tiki.

But for most league formats, he's practically Marshall Faulk!

Consider what Tiki has done in the past; the NYG's were consistently in the bottom third of offenses in the league yet Tiki still produced.

Now, the NYG's are one of the more prolific offenses in the league (and improving every year) and Tiki is the focal point of that offense.

here's his 4-year average:

315rush, 1495yards, 8.75td

61catch, 541yards, 1.5td

He AVERAGES 2,000 yards and 10TDS!

you're talking about a guy who gets 350 touches in one of the best offenses in the NFL.

Add in the fact that he lead the league in plays of 20+ yards (16) and it's probably OK to label him "explosive" too.

No, I won't take Tiki over the Big 3 (SA, LJ, LT) but ranking him at #4/5 (with Portis) sounds about right to me.

for those who complain that Tiki is "inconsistent", the only thing inconsistent (in the past) were his TD totals. The guy has always been a yardage machine. I would argue that his fluctuating TD totals were a result of 2 things:

1. the NYG's offense was alway in the bottom 3rd of the NFL

2. Tiki had a fumbling problem (because of how he used to carry the ball, Coughlin fixed that)

Really, those 2 problems are gone/solved.

The ONLY concern I can see as a realistic worry is Tiki's age... the "wrong side" of 30.

Tiki IS the playmaker on the Giants offense which has finally come into it's own. With Eli, Shockey, Plax, Toomer, and an improved defense, the NYG's will continue to be a high scoring/prolific offense. You WANT the feature RB from that team; ESPECIALLY if he's a proven player like Tiki Barber.

FFballers know that the situation/team a player is on is almost as important as his talent/track record. Guys like Addai and Ronnie Brown have done NOTHING at the NFL level but are stepping into desirable situations... the NYG's feature RB is a desirable situation and TIKI is a proven commodity.

The problem now is Brandon Jacobs.

But, I hope people in my league keep finding reasons not to draft Tiki. I'll gladly take him again.

because his value fluctuates significantly with the varying scoring systems.

In a yardage and/or PPR league, Tiki is gold.

In a TD only/or heavy league, Tiki is risky.

and posters don't bother to recognize these different scoring formats so they just argue all day long.
