Giants Fan 85 Posted July 27, 2006 Is it tomorrow he starts playing? I expect regular updates on his progress. Just a guess, but SOMEONE here will be keeping track! Kick ass Strike! Bluff when you sense weakness, and call when you sense a bluff ... and don't put all your money in the pot unless you have the nuts ... and you CAN'T LOSE! Strike 6,195 Posted July 27, 2006 yes... good luck man, i'm jealous... that is like a lifetime dream of mine... my only words of wisdom... get your money in with the best hand (simple huh?) Dude. I'm like Hellmuth - I ALWAYS get my money in with the best hand. Well, except that one time I bluffed. And there was that one time I thought he didn't have four aces. But other than that really, always.....lol. But seriously, the blind structure is slow enough to reward solid play and that's how I plan on playing. I'll keep you all posted. Thanks for the support. Thanks for the support. yeah.. i played in a $100 dollar buy in tourney at canterbury park in minneapolis a few months back, and they had large blinds for the money they gave you, which rewarded agressive play... (opposite of my play style i like to set a few traps before i get aggresive... so i was unprepared) Just stay patient and play your game and i'm sure you'll do well. Strike 6,195 Posted July 27, 2006 You been looking in the mirror? Practicing your stare down like I toldya? No. I pretty much took everything you suggested and plan to do the opposite. Thanks for the hints though yeah.. i played in a $100 dollar buy in tourney at canterbury park in minneapolis a few months back, and they had large blinds for the money they gave you, which rewarded agressive play... (opposite of my play style i like to set a few traps before i get aggresive... so i was unprepared) Just stay patient and play your game and i'm sure you'll do well. yeah, I've played in one other live tournament. Most local tournaments want to get over in one night, much like an online tournament. So the blinds increase rapidly. But this tournament runs almost two weeks if you make the final table!! They definitely want to reward solid play, while allowing for plays. So I plan on starting out solid and getting comfortable. Then I'll adjust my play accordingly. Hopefully this strategy will be successful.
Giants Fan 85 Posted July 27, 2006 "Now players have changed the way they play against me. Instead of giving me their chips, they don't want to get involved. People are more cautious about playing me, wheras before, they wanted to beat me, bluff me, and do whatever they could to beat The Grinder. I just had to change my style a little. I'm gonna pick off a lot of small pots, so that I'll be able to afford losing some bigger ones later." - Michael Mizarachi That focker has one mean stare down! cgod 0 Posted July 27, 2006 Hey best of luck man, from what I have seen you're a damn good player and should do well. Make us proud.
Giants Fan 85 Posted July 27, 2006 FYI: The best bluff you could ever do .... would be to stare someone down, and then honestly smile or laugh, like you are happy either way. A fake laugh, you call. Gotta be a real laugh. Some people just pick a spot on the wall, I do that sometimes. Called a "poker face". Practice it. Don't be afraid to talk a little though. Throw people off their game. Show cards ... you know you can show just 1 card if you want to, right? Don't play the cards though ... play the table! The force is strong with you! Kick ass! Giants Fan 85 Posted July 27, 2006 I'm sure you got betting strategy down. Someone goes over the top on you, 99% they have good cards. Because of that it's an effective bluff ... played right. Recognize that ... seem real smart. You play the odds ... but look for extra chances ... and don't get, as we say in our home games "fagged". A bad beat is "getting fagged". And you deal with it ... and move on.
