scrotch 0 Posted July 28, 2006 Titans | Collins in Nashville; expected to sign soon Thu, 27 Jul 2006 18:33:17 -0700 ESPNews reports free agent QB Kerry Collins (Raiders) will be in Nashville Thursday evening, July 27, and Friday July 28. He will take a physical for the Tennessee Titans and if he passes, he is "expected" to sign a contract with the team. Interesting development
DBZFan2K 0 Posted July 28, 2006 Seems like he would take over a backup role to Volek, and that makes Young a fantasy non-factor this season as he watches and learns from the sidelines.
harken34 0 Posted July 28, 2006 This a great Idea. They need to have Young ride the bench atleast one year.
MicktheGreat 1 Posted July 28, 2006 Yeah...this rumor's been floating around for the past couple of months. The Collins signing makes some sense. The Titans really do need another veteran QB on the roster since Volek (who will be the starter regardless of this signing) has a penchant for getting injured, and (by all accounts) Vince is 1-2 years away from being a viable option as a NFL-starting-calibur QB (despite his obvious talent). And the Titans clearly didn't want to rely on either Vince or 3rd-stringer Matt Mauck this season if something happened to Volek. I'm just hoping that the Titans don't make the mistake of giving him too much money or signing him for more than a 1-2 year deal (if they sign him at all). While he's still got a big arm, Collins is an absolute statue of a QB, and the Titans' OL is being rebuilt.
My Negro! 3 Posted July 28, 2006 From what I have heard Vince Young is really struggling learning the playbook. At Texas they only ran a total of 7-8 plays and Young just improvised. Keep an eye on this situation for sure.
Old School 360 Posted July 28, 2006 Interesting- both Fischer & GM Floyd Reese have recently stated on local radio shows that Collins wants/ wanted too much money, and that Collins expects to be the starter where ever he signs. That's why they looked at him earlier, but didn't go after him. "Voleck is the starter" has been repeated on the airwaves this week. Vince is expected to play in all the pre-season games, maybe as much as a half in each game. Young just signed a 5 year 58 million deal on Thursday. I'd be surprised to see Collins sign here, but who knows?
Stifler 2 Posted July 28, 2006 From what I have heard Vince Young is really struggling learning the playbook. At Texas they only ran a total of 7-8 plays and Young just improvised. Keep an eye on this situation for sure. That is funny...I heard the exact opposite. I heard he is progressing quickly. By the way, Texas ran more than 7-8 different plays. That is an ignorant statement at best.
shovelheadt 71 Posted July 28, 2006 I know it's been talked about before, but that dude has a crazy delivery. Was watching some camp footage on NFL network and he kind of flicks it sidearmed.
ohiostfb 0 Posted July 28, 2006 By the way, Texas ran more than 7-8 different plays. That is an ignorant statement at best. Actually, that's not much of an exaggeration. They ran the zone read, speed option, QB wrap, QB draw, and a very, very limited passing game which usually consisted of looking at 1 or 2 WRs and then running if they weren't open. I'm not bashing Texas, they used their amazingly athletic QB the best way possible.....hats off to them. I'm just saying that about 8-10 plays made up about 90% of their offense. Their playbook was thick, but the portion they used certainly wasn't.
