I understand why people hate condoms

Bush signed... where are all the nay sayers at now? Most of us saw through the smoke screen.

I just think there is a lot of USC hate. There is no arguing against SC being at the very top of college football, and that they have put out some incredible NFL prospects in the Pete Carroll era. People like to talk about Mike Williams, but they forget to talk about: Palmer, Polomalu, Tatupu.

Those are the cream of the crop, in the NFL. Heck, even a guy who didn't play at USC was good enough to get drafted by a quality organization, and earn himself a back-up QB gig in posting 180 yds, TD, 1 int, and 89.4 passer rating in his limited NFL experience.

Peolple forget that when you are at the top, people like to try an knock you down... and then they like to say that the USC players have character issues.

They forget how a man's quickness, strength, and athletic ability are almost freakish for a man his size. They forget that everyone makes mistakes when they are young. They forget that, and let a very possible top 10 OL talent slip the 2nd round.

They say a guy is fat and lazy, when he has a doctor saying he is hurt. They pass up a guy who has more TD's than guys named Allen or Simpson at USC. They forget that this guy straight armed and pushed the #7 draft pick of this year's draft into the ground like a rag doll in one of this 3 TD's in the national championship game. Instead they take a WR who has only been arrested 99 times before the season even starts. And they are silenced when he actually comes into camp in good shape.

They forget that a guy was a sure fire #1 draft pick last year. They say he can't make the throws or is too Hollywood. They forget how gutsy he was for coming back to play for his senior year. They forget that he ran a pro style offense with pro level athletes to near perfection, only losing two last minute thrillers in his college career. They forget how savy he was in audibling with the game on the line, in arguably the biggest regular season game in coolege football, an than later had the guts to finish the job with everything on the line against Notre Dame.

They forget how special Reggie Bush is. They forget how shocking it was that the Texans pased on him. They forget how a lot of people have said he may be the best prospect out of college EVER. They forget how electrifying he can be. They say he is too wrapped up in money and believe posturing smokescreens that he will sit out the year. They say that a RB who is less than a year removed from an ACL tear that many here probably has heard typically takes two years to fully recover from, and who didn't look good before the injury nonetheless, is going to be the man. They forget that Bush is an athlete that has top en speed, strength, and a unique build that allows him to be used in both the passing and running game. They say he is too small (I'm not sure about this), but I can't remember him ever missing any time.

They make up stories of how the Trojans failed when it counted most, but they forget that the year before they blew out a Oklahoma team in what was supposed to be a very even game featuring two Heisman winners, and the two most promising RB's in the land. They say that these players were at fault in losing this year to a very good football team in the Longhorns, and an even better athlete in Young. They say that these players got shut down, when everyone who watched the game could tell you that the defense of a bunch of guys who won't be playing in the NFL bounced off a guy who now is. They will say that Bush got shut down, when he had a 170+ total yards, and a TD that was such a display of speed and balance that I'm not sure anyone in the NFL, or possibly ever could have done. Leinart did have somewhat of a bad game. That bad game was still 365 yards, almost 75% completions, 1 TD, an 1 int... and was one 4th and long away from having "three" college championships.

Bush, Leinart, White, and Justice are all going to be extremely great value picks in the real world. Both Bush and White will be he same in our fantasy world. I just don't get the hate.

Everybody hates a winner and thats pretty much all USC did the last couple of years.

I dont USC. I am a Texas fan, why would I hate USC?

I think Bush has just had so muc hype all ready that people are tired of hearing about it. I love the kid, I think he is going to be a star.

I also really like Lendale White. He and Vince Young will be a great Combo for many years to come.

I am just not really high on Lienart. Put him on an average team and see how he does. Put him on the Longhorns last year and see how that team would have done.

Put Vince YOung on that USC team and they would have been the most dominant team in college history. :D

Heh yeah. We are. But were gonna have a freshman QB this year, and losing Michael Huff, Rod Wright, and Aaron Harris (who did a great job against Bush) is going to hurt. The big test will be against Ohio State again.

The Texas Longhorns are THE best until somebody steps up and takes the title "National Champions" away from them. I am going to enjoy the ride until somebody actually steps up to the challenge.

Maybe because of big long obnoxious posts like yours?

I don't hate USC, but the more hype a team gets, the more hated they are going to be. Threads like this aren't going to help.

USC never really bothered me one way or the other, but honestly, I don't care much for Pete Carroll. :(

I don't want the thread to get off topic.. but I meant USC has been at the top for the past 5 years (during Pete Carroll's ternure). That may be arguable, but there's no arguing that USC is easily in the convesation, if not the front runner. Regardless, I meant no disrespect to the Longhorns, who no doubtedly were the best team last season and in the Rose Bowl.

I wouldn't discount Michael Huff in the same way that I feel the Trojan players are being discounted. I do have my doubts about Vince Young, and even Leinart because QB's are way more difficult to forecast and we all nkow each has some ???'s as far as the QB position is related in the NFL.

I just think that if anything... these Trojan players are being underhyped. I think it is because of hate. The only things people seem to come up with against some of these players seem like they are made up. I can see the hesitancy in that they are unproven.... but I also think people are making a lot out of nothing and a lot of garbage is being spewed out as well.

I am sorry if I offended you. I really wasn't trying to be obnoxious. This hread has nothing to do with USC. This is more talking about some solid football players and why people think they won't be good for whatever reasons.

I'm a USC alumn. I'm not sure USC needs to be defended. I think people just get a little tired of the hype.

Well, you get your wish with Lienart....even better, he's on a below average team. Alot of weapons, but a ways to go before we can say they are a good team.

Putting Vince Young on the USC team would have done nothing. What made Vince great was his ability to make things happen....passing, scrambling, running, improvising. To take him and put him in a Pete Carrol system would be like Mike Vick on the Colts and saying that definitly go undefeated now. Young was great because he got to use all of his skills in the Texas offense.

BTW....with Young on USC....Texas.....hell, combine both teams, don't matter. The best team to ever play a single season was the 1995 Nebraska Cornhuskers! That team absolutely dominated!!
