Having Fitzgerald and Boldin on your roster....$1 and #2 WR

Recommended Posts

Keeper League

I have the 1st pick, taking SA as of now.

Keeping Fitgerald in the 3rd.

With the 20th pick, my projections show a good chance of having Boldin available.

Am I nuts to have Boldin and Fitzgerald as my #1 and #2 WRs???

Not too concerned with the bye week....I can somehow make things work for that week.

Personally, I would be a bit hesitant to have both of those receivers starting from week to week. My confidence in Kurt Warner isnt all that high. And their hot shot rookie QB hasnt signed yet so he is going to take a while to learn the offense. So that leaves Warner starting most of the season. Warner is a great quarterback when he is given LOTS of time to see the field and make passes. But how much time is his offensive line going to give him?

Even if Warner is good, how likely is it that both receivers are going to have big games each week? With Edge now running and catching the ball it might take away stats from Fitz and Boldin.

So for me, it isnt a gamble I would take. But I have heard of people doing that sort of thing and having excellent success.

Good luck!

With the schedule they have this year - honestly I see nothing wrong with it. There's a great chance that for sure one of them will blow up every week covering the other one if he has a down game. Also, if one goes down with injuries you are definitely covered by having the only viable WR on the team.

That's interesting man, I never thought of it with those guys this year and it is pretty possible to get both. Look at this cake schedule.

1 - San Fran

3 - St. Louis

4 - Atlanta

5 - Kansas City

7 - Oakland

8 - Green Bay

11 - Detroit

13 - St. Louis

16 - San Fran

I didnt include Seattle twice in there and Denver and Chicago. But - Seattle could easily blow them out which will lead to some huge garbage time stats.

Cake schedule does not translate to killer stats for WRs as it does for RBs. Why would you air it out if you are ahead?

I personally do not like too many eggs in one basket, especially if that basket is the Cardinals and Kurt Warner is holding that basket.

You also have to decide if Edge will take value away from the two WRs combined or add value to them. For me, I am still undecided on his impact. They were so horrible last year in the red zone that I doubt a stud RB will detract from their value.

owner in my 12-team auction yesterday did this---fitz/boldin as wrs 1/2. $500 bank, paid $87 for fitz, $95 for boldin (TO went for $115, holt for $111, ssmith for $105, harrison for $100, moss for $97, cjohnson for $88.)

[core is delhomme, portis, deangelo williams, fitz, boldin, mccardell, shockey. ]

I'd be wary of it, at least for this year.

With that bad O-line, Warner will get hurt at some point this season. That leaves a rookie (Leinart) throwing the ball around behind a bad O-line.

While they are both stellar players, I would play it safe and not have both on my team and starting if I could help it. THere will be a couple of weeks when both will light it up, but more than likely, one will light it up and another will disappear.

Thinking it may come down to the best RB avail(KJones/JJones/WDunn/) or a top WR......

Can't go wrong with 2 stud wr's.

Actually, you can go wrong with 2 stud WR's. At that draft position, there are a couple of WR's that have the same value as Boldin. It just does not make sense to put all of your eggs into one basket. One off week for Arizona = a potentially losing week for you. Take another WR that you have ranked near Boldin, and spread your value out so that your teams wins and losses don't have to coincide with Arizona's.

I dont like doing it normally but I think they are the exception.

I had 2 on the same team a few years ago with Warner throwing to them and it worked great.

I don't like to split the points with 2 receivers on the same team.

It's less likely that you'll have 2 stud games out of both at the same time.

Get a different reciever, that way you can still have those (100 yard/ 2TD's) a peice games.
