rb rb or rb wr

Recommended Posts

5th pick in a 10 team league. definately going rb first. but in the second round would you take another rb (as they will be getting slim by now and definately by your 3rd pick) OR take a top tier receiver?

is it just a matter of preference?

last year i went rb rb wr...but i had the 3rd pick and the rb situations were a little different. i'm guessing by my second round pick this year i'm looking at something along the lines of d davis/mcgahee or so but the wr options will obviously be somwhere along the lines of holt/owens/c johnson.

while i definately feel like i have a chance at having one of the more solid backfields, i also like having a stud at each position..

In a recent draft of mine I went RB/WR/WR/WR....I got 3 WR in the top two tiers and a decent stud RB in the first (R. Brown.) I felt quite secure with my draft because beyond the stud RBs...there isn't much reason to take one in the second. I would rather have someone like Fitzgerald for my 2nd rounder than I would someone like Julius Jones or Westbrook or whoever.

interesting strategy, and i suppose it always matters who's still on the table.

last year we had a guy pick receivers early - he ended up with moss, harrison and someone else in the top two tiers. but his best rb was *i believe* dillon followed by droughns.

seemed like he was scrambling all year - especially when moss went down and the colts went to the ground game for so long.

I've always gone RB/RB/WR in my 10-team league in the past, but I think this year it's possible to go RB/WR/RB/WR and make out all right. If you can go Portis or Jackson at 5, then snag RMoss or Fitz at 16, you might be able to come back with Droughns at 25. These are all purely speculatory picks. Depends on your league and really where you're from. I've seen Droughns go really late in some mocks and really early in others. I think he might get midwest love and not much else.

yeah, you definitely need to make sure you get two RBs in your first 3 rounds. if I was you i'd just set my board and draft it, looking maybe for a TO/chad johnson type in the second round and then a solid #2 RB in round 3. on the other hand sometimes crazy things happen and if steven jackson or cadillac or ronnie brown is still around at pick 16 you gotta pull the trigger.

It depends on who is there and relative value. you cant go in with a schedule, you need to evaluate the flow...

This year is looking more and more like WR 2nd round. In a 10-team league, you've got 6 projected to go in the 2nd round. That's more than I can ever imagine.

I'm in a 12-team redraft league, drafting out of the 5th slot. With Portis as my first pick, I will be taking a Wr in round 2. The idea that I'm toying with is... if for some reason one of the top tier of 7 Wrs are still available at 3.05, I might actually go RB-WR-WR. Am I crazy? I would only consider this if one of the top 7 Wr's are still there, but I just think that would be a safer pick then one of the Teir 2-3 RBs. Obviously I would be taking a big gamble relying on my RB2 coming at my 4.07 pick, but I think the RBs avaible in the 3rd are a gamble as well. Your thoughts...

I don't know. I have always been a RB/RB/RB guy. How late could you grab a Steve Smith, Snatana Moss, Bouldin, Driver, or Fitzgerald last year. WR is the biggest break out/sleeper spot outs there. RBs are just real hard to find. Some teams can have 5 WR sets. There are plenty of WRs out there.

Without a solid RB squad, you always find yourself searching to make up that defecit. A top WR is not worth a 2nd teir RB.

Just me though....
