$200,000 Pot

Alex Melnikow faces a $20,000 bet from James Crowshaw on a board of Qclub 7heart 2heart Aheart. Melnikow decides to reraise all in for roughly $50,000 more, (he had approximately $90,000 going into the hand.) Crowshaw, who also had a large stack before the hand, goes into the tank. After a short moment, he calls, revealing the Qheart 4heart for the second nuts. Melnikow shows his 10heart 3heart for a lower flush, and he is drawing dead against Crowshaw, who also has him covered. Melnikow is eliminated from the tournament after being one of the the top ten in Cardplayer's chip counts. Crowshaw now has a dominating chip lead, with roughly $215,000.

Barry Greenstein Crippled

On a board of 8heart 5club 2spade with $15,000 in the pot, Barry Greenstein goes all-in for $20,000. Luke Neely calls and has just short of $18,000. Greenstein has Kspade Kheart and Neely has Qdiamond Qspade. The turn is the Qheart and the river is the 7spade. Neely sucks out to make a set of Queens and cripples Barry Greenstein. After the hand, Neely has $51,000 and Greenstein is left with $2,800.

Sklansky On Wrong End of Set Over Set

With about $7,500 in the pot and a board reading Qheart 8heart 6diamond, David Sklansky fires out $3,000. The action folds around to a player in late position who pushes all-in for an additional $9,000. Sklansky calls, showing 8club 8spade. His opponent, however, shows a bigger set with pocket cards Qdiamond Qspade. The turn brings the 5club and the river brings the Jspade. Sklansky has fallen to $6,500.

Chris Ferguson Doubles Up

On a flop of Qspade 5spade 4diamond, Chris Ferguson gets all of his money in with the Kdiamond Kheart against the Qdiamond5 heart of his opponent, who blurts out "No king, no four!" The turn responds to his demands, bringing the harmless Jdiamond. The 4spade is not nearly as responsive to requests, however, and shows up on the river, giving Ferguson a higher two pair and doubling him up to $84,000.

Danny Masterson Rakes Nice Pot

On a board of 10diamond6spade2diamond5clubQclub, Danny Masterson bets $2,000 and Vincent Roctih just calls. Roctih shows Qdiamond6diamond and Masterson flips over 4spade3heart for the straight. Masterson rakes a nice pot on this hand and brings his chips count up to $44,600.

No Showdown Needed

Ed Boehler calls the big blind from late position, Sean Johnson raises to $2,200 and Boehler calls. The flop comes 9spade9diamond7spade, both players check. The turn is the 2spade and both players check. The river brings the 6heart, Boehler bets $3,000 and Johnson calls. As soon as Johnson makes the call Boehler mucks his hand. Johnson wins without the table seeing either players hands. Johnson is at $134,500.

Madeline Rowan Builds Her Stack

On a board of Aclub10club7club9heart, Madeline Rowan bets $3,000. She gets one caller and both see the Kheart hit the river. Rowan fires in a bet of $5,000 and her opponent folds. Rowan has been quietly amassing chips and is now up to $45,000.

Michael Bower Cripples Broc Segura

A player in mid-position raises to $1,700 preflop and Michael Bower re-raises to $6,000 from the small blind. Broc Segura re-raises to $15,000 from the big blind, prompting the mid-position player to fold. Bower pushes all-in for $42,000 and Segura calls, showing pocket Kings. Segura is behind when Bower flips up pocket Aces for the lead. The board comes 10club9club5diamond5spade4heart, improving neither player and doubling up Bower to $99,800. Segura is left crippled with only $27,000 left.

Two hands later, Segura pushes his last $27,000 into the pot with Jacks. His Jacks are cracked and he is eliminated from the tournament.

Theo Tran Continues to Build

In middle position, Theo Tran ($98,000) makes it $1,500 to go. A late position player ($48,000) makes it $3,000 and Theo calls. The flop comes J-9-6 and both players check. The turn brings a 10, and Theo checks. His opponent bets $3,000 and Theo check-raises to $11,000. His opponent moves all-in immediately and Theo calls instantly with the third nuts, the 8-7. His opponent is already drawing dead with the A-6 as the river is brings a brick. Theo increases his stack to over $140,000.

Huge Re-Raise

Frederic Hebert calls the big blind from under-the-gun, Stewart Dobbin raises from late position to $1,800, John Hanos calls out of the small blind and Hebert re-raises to $10,000 from under-the-gun. Both Dobbin and Hanos fold giving Hebert the pot.

Mike Sexton has been eliminated from the Main Event.

Shawn "SprStoner" Glines Surviving

Shawn Glines has been shortstacked all day long, fluctuating between $7,000 and $12,000 in chips. Action is folded around to the button who raises to $2,000. Glines immediately goes all-in and the button quickly folds. Glines is having a hard time getting any action since he's been card dead all day. After the hand, Glines is up to $10,125.

Brenes Doesn't Show

Humberto Brenes raises from the button to $2,100, Stewart Dobbin calls the raise from the small blind. The flop comes Kdiamond9diamond9heart, both players check. The turn is the 3diamond, again both check. The river is the 3club, with both players checking. Dobbin shows Aheart4heart for a pair of 9's and 3's with an Ace kicker and Brenes mucks.

David "The Dragon" Pham Builds His Stack

A player in early position raises to $2,375. David Pham quickly re-raises to $7,875. His opponent calls. The flop comes 5heart3diamond2heart, and the player in early position checks. Pham quickly goes all-in and gets his opponent to fold an undisclosed overpair. After the hand, Pham is up to $75,000 in chips.

Tran Shows Bluff

Theo Tran raises to $1,700 from the cut-off, from the small blind William Hill announces a raise and puts $2,200 in the pot but he must at least double Tran's bet. The floor is called and the decision is made that Hill announced the raise and must double Tran's original raise. Hill does that and it is $1,700 more for Tran to call. Tran calls and the flop comes Adiamond10heart8heart, Hill bets $7,000 and Tran instantly re-raises to $17,000. Hill folds and Tran turns over Qspade7spade for the bluff. Tran sits with $151,000 after the hand.

The Master Eliminated

Men Nguyen had all of his chips in on a flop of Jclub6diamond3diamond. Ken Jacobs calls, having Nguyen covered. Nguyen flips over QdiamondJdiamond for top pair and a flush draw, and Jacobs shows 3club3spade for a set. The turn brings the 4diamond, giving "The Master" his flush, but the river brought the 6spade, filling up Jacobs' boat and eliminating Nguyen. Jacobs now has $193,000.

On a board of Aclub10spade3club8spadeJclub, Phil Ivey is all-in for $24,000 with JspadeJdiamond and his opponent has AspadeJheart. Ivey doubles up to $49,000 which will surely make the rest of his table uneasy.

After a flop of Jdiamond9heart6diamond, Jon Eirik Einarsvenn bets in the small blind, and faces a large all-in re-raise from the big blind. Einarsvenn calls and shows AdiamondAspade, but the big blind flips over JclubJspade for the floped set. On the turn Einarsvenn spikes and Ace to take the lead. The river is a 7spade, and the player in the big blind can not believe he is out of the tournement. Einarsvenn rakes in the pot, and now has $93,000.

"Shaniac" Busted

Eric Molina raises from middle position to $4,000, Shane "Shaniac" Schleger in the big blind pushes for around $14,000. Molina and Schleger had just been in a heated argument a few hands ago that caused the floor to come over and resolve the problem. Molina thinks about the all-in from Schleger and says "Man, I really want to bust you. Ok. I call." Molina flips over 7diamond7club, Schleger Aspade6heart. The flop comes AdiamondKdiamond8diamond, pairing Schleger's Ace but giving Molina a flush draw. The turn gives Molina his flush when the 3diamond hits. Strasser continues to check and his opponent continues to bet with $15,000. Strasser just calls again and shows 9heart9diamond for two pair, 10's and 9's. His opponent flips up a stone cold bluff with 7heart2spade and Strasser takes down the pot to up his already massive stack to $220,000.

The player under the gun makes it $2,500 to go. Scotty Nguyen calls just behind him, leaving himself with only $4,000. A player in late position then makes it $8,000 to go. The initial raiser folds and Nguyen calls, showing JdiamondJheart. Unfortunately for Nguyen, he is a huge underdog to his opponent's QspadeQheart. The flop comes Kdiamond4diamond2diamond giving Nguyen the flush draw. The turn brings the 4club and the river brings Scotty his flush with the Adiamond. Scotty Nguyen now sits with $19,000.

Shirley Williams Cries Tears Of Joy

A shortstacked Shirley Williams is all in preflop with pocket kings and is called by an opponent with A-Q. An ace flops, and Williams' tournament life is at risk. The turn brings no help, and Williams is in need of one of the two remaining kings going into the river. She is so overcome with emotion that she cries tears of joy as she rakes in the pot, doubling to approximately $33,000.

Cuong Do Rakes a Big Pot

What Could Have Been

Theo Tran raises to $2,300, seat 2 re-raises to $11,000 and is then re-raised as seat 6 moves all-in for around $36,000. Tran thinks for a bit before mucking his hand. Seat 2 calls after about 2 minutes of thinking and turns over AspadeQspade, seat 6 QdiamondQheart. Tran says "No, Ace or King dealer." insinuating that he had A-K. The board comes 4-5-7-3-K and Tran walks off the table in disgust.

David Einhorn raises to $2,800 preflop and Danny Masterson re-raises $10,000 more. Einhorn raises all in, having Masterson covered. Masterson thinks for a moment before calling all-in and flips up AheartKheart while shows QclubQdiamond. The flop puts Aspade7spade4spade n the board, pairing Masterson's Ace and putting him in the lead. The turn is disastrous for Masterson when it hits the Qspade, giving the lead back to Einhorn. Kaufman check raises to $12,000. Pham immediately goes all-in for an additional $30,400. Kaufman thinks for about three minutes before deciding to fold. When Kaufman asks Pham what he had, Pham replies that he had A-2. Kaufman informs Cardplayer.com that he had to fold K-Q. Pham tells Kaufman, "When you play with the dragon you have to prepare your gut." After the hand, Kaufman is desperate to know if he made a good laydown, even placing a side bet about what Pham was holding. Pham told Cardplayer.com that he did in fact have Kaufman beat with K-K, but that he would have to go home and check the live updates to find out. Don't worry Justin, you made a good laydown. After the hand, Kaufman is down to $49,800 while Pham boosts his chip count to $63,500.

Mortensen Gets Last Laugh

Carlos Mortensen raises preflop to $2,600 and is called by the player in seat 9. The flop is the 9diamond5heart3club, seat 9 checks, Mortensen bets $4,000, and seat 9 tries to raise to $10,000, but accidently only pushes $8,000 forward and brings the extra $2,000 after his raise is in the pot. Mortensen calls him for a string raise, a floor-person is called over, and the raise of $6,000 is ruled as valid and stands. Visibly upset, Mortensen calls the bet. The turn is the 7spade, and both players check. The river is the Jdiamond, seat 9 bets $7,500, and Mortensen calls immediately. Seat 9 shows a 5spade, Mortensen flips up the KheartJclub, and asks to see his opponent's other card, which turns out to be the 10spade. Still upset, Mortensen asks for the pot, and stacks his winnings; he now has $82,000.
