Drav 0 Posted August 7, 2006 I'm a Bengals man myself, but even I have to say I think you took Palmer a little early. I'd also have taken Dayne over Benson, the CHI RB situation is not near resolved yet, but the Dayne looks real good now that Bell isn't doing well. Seems like you took Gado too early too (I wouldn't take him at all), considering your lack of depth at WR at that point. I'm also having a hard time believing there wasn't a better backup QB than Favre when you took him -- especially after you drafted Palmer and all his risk, you really need a consistent solid backup because you're chance of having to break him out is higher than everyone else. Ilov80s 0 Posted August 7, 2006 I liked your strategy of getting some quality non-RBs in rounds 2-4, but I don't like the guy backs you ended up picking. I don't like Benson and have never understood the hype with this guy. Ron Dayne is not going to be a starting NFL RB- he has proved that. They are 2 of the most overhyped and overrated college runners of the decade IMO.
Great White Hope 0 Posted August 7, 2006 I think you did pretty well, as long as Carson holds up. If he doesn't, you could have some serious issues with Favre as your QB. Cooley is a great selection where you got him.
Big Large Man 0 Posted August 7, 2006 Thanks guys. I should have mentioned it but the starting format is 1rb,2wr & 1 rb/wr. At QB - I really did reach with Palmer. In retrospect, Hasselbeck and Delhomme were both still available although I'm not a big fan of QB/RB from the same team. After Favre the only qbs were And leftovers at Favre... Brooks, Leftwich, Brunnel, Vick, Mcnair and Carr were the only real condenders. As far as the Gado/Dayne pics - Here are the WRs and RBs taken w/in a few rounds of these picks. Who would you have taken? Lee Evans WR LenDale White RB T.J. Duckett RB Keenan McCardell WR Keyshawn Johnson WR Nate Burleson WR Marion Barber RB Mewelde Moore RB Eddie Kennison WR David Givens WR Kevan Barlow RB Koren Robinson WR Brandon Lloyd WR Donte' Stallworth WR Drew Bennett WR Deion Branch WR
Big Large Man 0 Posted August 7, 2006 Funny you should mention Lendale. Try #2 - Drafted 2nd again. Feel pretty good about getting Driver as I can start just 1RB and 3WRs in a pinch and Driver is not a bad 3rd WR at all. Of the two rookie rbs, one might emerge (or Julius might not perform or go down). ** (2) - Shaun Alexander RB ** (23) - Randy Moss WR ** (26) - Marvin Harrison WR ** (47) - Tom Brady QB ** (50) - Donald Driver WR ** (71) - DeAngelo Williams RB ** (74) - LenDale White RB ** (95) - Marion Barber RB ** (98) - Chris Cooley TE ** (119) - Deion Branch WR ** (122) - Mark Brunell QB ** (143) - David Akers K ** (146) - Dolphins D/ST D/ST ** (167) - Travis Henry RB ** (170) - Mark Clayton WR ** (191) - Kellen Winslow TE

Thats where he is going in drafts, so if you want him take 'em. Also, I believe Cincy will be playing from behind this year and will need to throw more. Thats what made Brady a top 3 QB last year (previously was finishing 5 -8 in my league). Also, who's to say that Williams and White will be more valuable than Dayne and Benson. Neither is starting as of right now and both Dayne and Benson are running with their first teams. Last year everyone drafted Benson when he wasn't the starter and he barely ever played. Same could happen to Williams and White. Perhaps drafting one of each is the best way to hedge your bet (one starter now and one RB with potential for later). IMO.
