Contender/Pretender 0 Posted August 16, 2006 I like the Ahman Green pick, I was going to roll the dice on him if he was still around in the next rd. Green was worth a gamble. The wacko anonymous lady has struck again - Braylon Edwards Stud in the making. So the Stud WR/Stud LB theory continues to go in to effect. I knew Edwards would be way gone if I didn't pick him soon. Pick Deisel Pick!
Zap 0 Posted August 16, 2006 I knew Edwards would be way gone if I didn't pick him soon. There's certainly no guarantees in this crew and targeting ADPs has been futile. "I" wouldn't have considered him for a few more rounds.

Contender/Pretender 0 Posted August 16, 2006 There's certainly no guarantees in this crew and targeting ADPs has been futile. "I" wouldn't have considered him for a few more rounds. That is why you are the commish! The way the draft is going - I just figured someone would pick him before he got back to me in the 11th round. Thats just how its been going for me. I saw him as a potential stud WR this season and needed another WR that works with my bye weeks. A reach - maybe but I'm happy I got him. Missed out on him in another dynasty draft that is going on same time as this draft. Made me so I was happy he was there in this draft. (I had him in this que number 1 prior to his going in the other draft). I'm beginning to like my team - way risky but, sometimes risks will pay off.
BoneYArdDog 0 Posted August 16, 2006 I missed out on Reggie, I missed out on Matt Jones... My team had no sizzle. Rivers gives me the sizzle I so yearn for, a reason to care, some bling bling, a little shiny, gotta have someone on my team that is worth his own message thread somewhere... His ADP be damned, with KRob and Kennison on my team I just had to have something and was not willing to take a chance of someone snaking him out from under me... My team is not at all what I anticipated I would draft, funny how that all works out... And I blame it on y'all because of the weird draft picks you have been making... Stud WR, Ahman Green, Kevin Barlow and Braylon Edwards... Whats up wit dat, yo...
Zap 0 Posted August 16, 2006 Why hasnt anyone got on me about phucking up and drafting Thurman? Your two year run of league dominance is over. Feel better? I'm pretty sure you could have had Odell in the mid to late teens. But I've been pretty sure about a few others and been wrong. There's rumor Thurman could miss the season. For now, it's four games. So, what's the deal? Don't tell me you were unaware of the situation? Or do you think he'll be a stud LB later this season?

Whats up wit dat, yo... Rivers is another I would have liked owning this year. One of the reasons for taking Brady early was to feel comfortable watching most of the QBs fall before taking Rivers. Green and Barlow? Well, I was backing myself into a corner with just LJ and TJ. I think those two had the best upside of who was available, being unable to predict injuries and all. And drafting on the corners can be uncomfortable if your roster has significant risk at RB like mine did. I don't know that they were the right move there, but I feel better about the rest of the draft with them aboard. Diesel is the only owner who hasn't checked in today. I have no info about his schedule. It's the little bits of info that make these things more tolerable.

I'm glad to see I've played a small part in shakin up the status quo this year. I have a lot of ifs on my team but man if they get rolling you guys are in for a run of your lifetimes! Zap 0 Posted August 16, 2006 Yes where is Diesel!!!!!! I'm inpatient to draft my next wacko pick If he just communicated like many of you have, then I could tell you what to expect. Sorry. I know it's very frustrating when it happens just before you pick. Can't help you there, but I am checking out for awhile and checking in around noon pdt. 2nd time he's held us up at the turn. not that I can b!tch after flaking on y'all last night... Well, you're one who has consistently posted or emailed about your schedule and said a day of meetings was on your plate, yada yada. It's seems like nothing, but it actually helps quite a bit. Also, your delay was pretty late for our east coasters, so it affected less of the crew. In Deisel's defense, this thing was too far away for him to predraft first thing in the morning, and then it moved very fast to get here. Far as I know, he's taking classes, working a day job, and watching Saved By the Bell with naked girls. Those are pretty valid excuses. I'm out til lunch, not out to lunch... Get it together and pick already. Faq! I expect Diesel to show up defensive and angry and give us impatient fools a vulgar piece of his mind. I hope I'm wrong, and he presents a valid excuse, promises to communicate a little better, and apologizes for inconveniencing us. We're on a 6 hour wait, which isn't that horrible, but the timing is bad in the middle of the day like this. We didn't even have a 6 hour wait overnight. What's bugging me isn't the six hours as much as him not checking this draft for 17 hours now. Maybe something serious came up. Who knows? But, we're not on a clock. We're way ahead of my expectations. Not much we can do but hope he shows and this doesn't happen again. I guess this could linger into the night and I may have to make a call. He flipped out when I forced picks for him in a live draft. So let's try prayer. lol At the top of hour, noon pacific and three eastern, everybody bow your heads together at the same time, send a powerful message to Diesel to get back in the draft while petitioning the fantasy gods to make him to hurry is arse up. It could work, but you all have to do it at the same time.

I think everyone would be feeling pretty bad if something bad has happened or certainly something explainable. I for one am still waiting and yes I did pray to God that all was well with him and he was ok. That's all thats really important. It wasn't exactly 2:00 pm - 2:06 pm but I'm sure God doesn't care about a few minutes.

Challenging, but not insurmountable. I think we should reserve our prayers for if/when that situation comes around, because lord knows we'll need help giving away that stink bomb of a roster. yes, I am kidding, and yes I hope Diesel is ok, and yes I am going to hell for this post. Zap 0 Posted August 16, 2006 I'm trying to think of the most reasonable solution should he tarry into the evening. The worst thing about both skipping him or forcing picks, is that he's on the corner. It's a double whammy, and he's not like BoneYard, willing to accept someone else's picking. At this stage of the draft, and from what I remember of him in past drafts, I'm inclined to skip him. I think he would prefer that. The problem with that is we would probably run through a bunch of picks very fast, and well, I guess that's his problem. Pretender is waiting, Waveman is waiting, three between them are predrafted and ready. Or I could bring in a highly respected proxy to look over his team and make a couple picks. That way I wouldn't be making them by using site rankings as we have in the past. It's tough to tell what positions he would address next, yet alone what players, so rankings or ADPs are pretty meaningless. I know exactly who I would take if I were him, but I'm hoping to take them myself.
TexanForever 0 Posted August 16, 2006 I'm as impatient as the rest of you, but we agreed to a SLOW draft with no clock, and I think that's what we should stick with until we find out what's happened with Diesel. I know exactly who I would take if I were him, but I'm hoping to take them myself. As much whining and complaining as I might do, I am not in favor of either solution. Skipping with this many on autopilot means that he gets skipped a dozen or more picks. That ain't right. Picking for him in an IDP format where there are sooooo many different strategies/approaches isn't right either, because it's unpossible to guess where he'd want to go with his draft - and at 9 out of 25, this is still a somewhat early round. Getting a proxy has the same problem - too many ways of going about an IDP draft to say "yes, I gave him the best pick". I say we (sigh) wait for the lazy no good farging basthed to make his lousy no good farging pick on his own. It's a slow draft and we're 5 rounds ahead of schedule, by my calculations.
