Clinton Portis...owners THAT scared?

Recommended Posts

K...just drafted in my 12 team league. Been in this league for 4 years, I havent won yet, but have made it in the playoffs. I got Larry Johnson with #3 (Shaun went 1st, then Tomlinson)...and then I got Clinton Portis with my 2nd round pick.

Is everyone THAT scared of the shoulder? Am I missing something?

Standard scoring league, some bonus points for longer runs, or if RB scores a Recieving TD, but all in all...standard scoring.

My team:

Duante Culpepper (4th round)

Larry Johnson (1st round)

Clinton Portis (2nd Round)

Anquan Boldin (3rd Round)

Reggie Brown (5th Round)

Alge Crumpler (7th Round)

Shayne Graham

Seattle Defense

Bench:

Eli Manning (6th Round)

Joseph Addai (8th Round)

Marion Barber (10th Round)

Drew Bennett (9th Round)

Tony Sheffler (Last pick of draft)

Im pretty stoked with LJ, Portis, C-Pepp, and Boldin. And expecting big things from Reggie Brown and Eli as my back-up in case Duantes knee falls off.

Any concerns?

You couldnt pass up portis that late in the second round. I would have maybe tried to get a little more depth at RB or tried to get duckett. I like the bennett pick as long as volek remains QB, he is playing for a contract and he and volek seemingly were on the same page last year..he seemed to get a lot of looks anyway.

I have Alexander as a keeper and picked Portis at 1.8 of the draft. Tiki, Mike Bell, Willie Parker, Ronnie Brown, Chad Johnson, and Steven Jackson went top 7. McGahee and Fitzgerald went with the next two picks, and I got Cadillac Williams on the turn. It is kind of messed up with a 9 team league

Team so far:

Bledsoe

Alexander, Portis, Cadillac

TO

Any thoughts?

i had a similar experience minus the l.j. and am talking about it here...

you should join the conversation... anyways, great draft. i'm finding it hard to believe that this is a developing trend. look at dubya's... things're getting different. to me duckett's a bigger scare, pts wise, than the shoulder, which i have all reason to think's dumb hype. i guess you're forced to start a te... i like that and grew up with sheffler. brown really slid to me with stallworth running opposite, but you my man are your league's king midas. dope to see the difference between second and tenth put on paper... we got cross overs but i might still not trade you squads

hmmm, i'd fade barber or addai... likely both for duckett and depth.

You done good...Portis will be just fine in the spot you took him! Would have done well to get TJ Duckett though!

You're in good shape. I've seen some recent drafts (not mocks) where Portis was taken late first round. Having him fall to you in the late 2nd is what we refer to as value. Sure his shoulder is a question mark. But, do you remember him playing with an ankle and hip injury late last year as the Skins made their playoff push? Portis a tough bastard. Keep in mind, his should injury doesn't effect his burst (the guy is still a home-run rb). Would I draft him in the top 8? No (that would be a 'homer' pick). But, I like him in the late first/second round. Duckett was brought in more as insurance. I heard on the John Riggins radio show from more than one source that Duckett is supposed to spell Portis early in the season to allow him to heal. I draft second overall in a 10-team league. This is my take on the first two rounds of my draft tomorrow:

1.02 LJ/SA

2.09 Holt/Owens/Harrison

If Portis falls to me at 2.09, I'll likely pull the trigger
