chrisdoty73 0 Posted August 30, 2006 KC Homers: Any advice you can spare would be great. I am visiting KC for a conference from Sept 9-13 and will be staying at the downtown Marriot. What is there to do in KC - especially the downtown area? Great places to eat? How hard will it be for me to make it to the Chiefs game vs the Bengals? Plenty of scalpers? Thanks all- PS: This is relevant as I have LJ in two leagues and would like to fulfill a dream - watching my #1 pick live!
Shox 0 Posted August 30, 2006 I'm sure you can find a ticket, but it will be very pricey.

Thanks all- PS: This is relevant as I have LJ in two leagues and would like to fulfill a dream - watching my #1 pick live! Visit the Country Club Plaza. Nations first outdoor mall. Lots of great shops, and good places to eat, with a lot of history behind it. Crown Center is the best indoor mall around there, if you'd rather be in the A/C. Westport is the night life. Bars and night clubs on every corner. I've met some of the Chiefs and Royals (ex-royals) down there on many occasions. If you like to gamble, Ameristar casino is one of the largest in the nation. We have four major riverboat casinos, though they don't actually float or anything. They just rerouted the rivers to get around the rules. If you like history, Liberty Memorial is the nation's largest WWI memorial, and provides the best view of the city skyline. Harry Truman's house/library are around here somewhere as well. If you like Jazz, 18th and Vine. Also the Jazz museum is pretty cool. To eat...find a good BBQ place. Steaks and BBQ are what we do best. I suggest Jack Stack (aka: Fiorella's). No idea about scalpers, sorry. Ask cmh6476, I think he goes to a lot of the games.
kcsportsguy 0 Posted August 30, 2006 Downtown areas that I can think of are: Hereford House Fiorella's Jack Stack BBQ Peppercorn Duck Club Tanners (Bar and Grill) Fred P Otts Uno Chicago Grill JJ's George Brett's Figlio's Bo Ling's Smokehouse Famous Daves Pierponts Peanut (Bar and Grill) Margarita's Things to do....Nelson Art Gallery, Negro League Hall of Fame, visit any place in Westport (bar area), check out "The Plaza" (shopping area). There is always somthing going on down town. You can go to any Chiefs game you want. I am a Broncos fan in KC that buys ticket at the stadium on game day every year. I never have to pay more than 20$ and often get them for 10$. Face value any where between $45-$120. Some times people just give away their tickets for free. You have to buy from people in the parking lot and not from the scalpers outside the stadium. Chief's fans aren't football fans. They are just tailgate fans who also watch a football game before leaving in the 3rd quarter.
Big_Pete 0 Posted August 30, 2006 I'm a Broncos homer, but I make a yearly trip to the Broncos/Chiefs game. not sure if i'll do it this year as it's on thanksgiving.. but might I digress...... You'll be able to get tickets there. I'd look on craigslist.org first, then ebay, then scalpers. One thing you need to know is that they love to tailgate. They are the best at it. For the most part, chiefs fans are decent people. Sure you'll get the drunk off their ass 19-22 year olds who try to start ###### with you, but for the most part, you'll have a great time at the game. you'll get alot of fantasy questions thrown your way by people who have palmer or johnson or whosyourdaddy. But overall you'll have a blast. Wish I could rip on them for something other than having a sh!tty team, but I cant. Ohh, and get BBQ while you're out there. Thats what kc is famous for. Alot of people love Arthur Bryants, but I also love the KC Masterpiece restaurant! It's quality grub! Ohh, and Herferd House in my opinion sucks! No offense to anyone who likes them, especially not my fellow Broncos fans, but I think they are overpriced and a halfass product. Drive to Oletha and go to Texas Roadhouse instead. lol. Tanners is really good though. Good atmosphere! Good what do they call them? Buffalo Knuckles? (their buffalo chicken tenders)
cmh6476 783 Posted August 30, 2006 If you're just looking for a single ticket upper level, you shouldnt have any problem getting a ticket for $50 or maybe even less. You could get primetime seats for around $100. I'm sure my friends and I will be down there, that's not confirmed yet but morte than likely. if so I'll shoot you a PM with my number so you can hang out in the parking lot with us and gets lottsa focked up! kcffl maniacs 0 Posted August 31, 2006 Things to do: Not much in the downtown area plus it's a mess with the construction of the Sprint Center but you go five blocks south to 18th street and vine you can visit the Negro League Museum . This is cool so I stongly reccomend it plus I have been told you might run into Buck O'Neil there although the couple times I've been I haven't seen him. The plaza is worth checking out and you can also check out Union Station at Crown Center. Food: BBQ- Fiorella's Jack Stack is the place to go in my opinon but there is also Gate's and KC Masterpiece. As for the game you can probably buy a ticket in the parking lot. I know when I go (only when my mother-n-law doesn't) there is atleast 10 people trying to sell a ticket or two. I'm a former Priest Holmes owner so it is awsome to watch them in action live the bad thing for me is that I couldn't get Johnson last year in the draft. Someone took him way early and he wouldn't trade him. Good Luck when you are in town.

Either he has never been out to Arrowhead or he just wants to be that "Bronco Fan" I would though look for a ticket in the lots compared to the scalpers on the outside. As for the night life, you'll find more class down on the Plaza but Westport is still a good time.
