pick up Heap?

Somone in my league (obviously an idiot) dropped Todd Heap when he became questionable for this weeks game and picked up Gado.

 

I now have the chance to pick-up Heap even though I don't really need him because I already have Gates and Watson on my team. Heap could provide me some trade value. So my question is should I pick him up or not?

Rivers (needed a safety net due to last weeks performances of the other 2)

yes i would definetly pick up heap that guy is a fool for droping him. i also think heap will have a better year than watson

I think you have to grab heap. you'll have the market for TEs covered and can probably get some serious value for either he or watson...

Unless the other teams in your league are hoarding QBs and Damon Huard is the best QB on the WW, I'd drop Rivers for Heap. True, you don't *need* Heap; but surely with Gates, Heap, and Watson you can swing some sort of trade...maybe even to upgrade at QB.

I think Heap is gonna have a huge year.

Last season he had something to the tune of 750 and 7 TD's and that was with a scrub QB.

If he stay's healthy he can be a monster.

I guess you'd have to drop a QB though since you don't really want to drop any of your other position players.

Maybe you should try trading Gates with one of your QB's for a better qB.

I was planning on starting Rivers sunday because of his mat-up against the Titans. I guess the better to do would be to pick-up Heap, but who would you drop and who should I start in place of Rivers if I drop him?

I wouldn't say its important you get him but its def. worth it if all you have to do is drop rivers. I think Watson will be a top 5 TE so you could probably get some seroius money by trading gates. But do it soon as his value will keep dropping with rivers at the helm.

TE is probably the second easiest position to fill on the waiver wire, but heap is definitely a top 5 TE and is worth picking up.

 

Pick him up, drop watson and start him ahead of Gates for the next couple of games until the conservative offense that is the Chargers starts to open things up a bit. You'll know when to switch back to gates cuz he'll start getting 80-100 yard games again(most likely around week 5).

 

in the interim this guy will keep things sane for the TE position for a week or two and cover your bye week next week.

 

once the bye week is done, I'd start looking into trading him and upgrade one of your other positions. Normally I'd say you should not keep more than one TE on your roster. This, of course isnt a normal situation. It actually fits the needs of your team almost perfectly.

I disagree with always having a third QB; but if the you and the OP are more comfortable with three then hey, more power to you. However, judging by the fact that the OP was able to add Rivers this week, I'd guess that the owners in his league aren't sporting 3-4 QBs on their rosters and Rivers will at least be available long enough for the OP to move one of his TEs and make space to re-add Rivers. Also, it's week two, and I'm normally not quite ready to write off anyone I drafted before the 10th round or so. So I'd probably risk one more week with Jake the Fake (at least they're playing at home), especially if it means stockpiling trade bait at the TE position for a future QB upgrade. Now, if the scoring system heavily penalizes ints/fumbles/sacks and whatnot, then dropping Watson for Heap and starting Rivers this week seems more palatable to me.

I'd dump Rivers. You can always package one of your TE's in a trade later on for a better, more establised QB or other needed player. McNair loves throwing to the TE and he is no K. Boller. Thanks for answering mine. LeBron.

Your team is pretty balanced. Normally, I'd say a 3rd QB is expendable, but in your case, I agree with your assessment of the other 2 QBs given who they are. I'd keep Rivers for insurance. I think Watson is in a position to succeed, but I'd say if you're itching to do something, I'd dump Watson for Heap. Todd Heap is the Man in BAL.

Pick up Heap with Heap, Gates, Watson you arguably have 3 top 10 te's play the matchups or trade one later. You have to take the value when it is there.

heap's an easy pickup over watson. altho i'd keep 'em both just so you're in an alpha-trade position and then try to deal gates for some serious value. i'd drop rivers and feel fine playing bledsoe this week.

like you said, heap provides good trade value, and is better than watson. drop plummer- he stinks...
