FA Pickups please take a look for me!

Recommended Posts

People in my league have been giving up on guys that I think may have more value than some on my team. If you could pick only 2 of these players, which players would you take for your team?

C. Jackson - NE

L. Jordan - OAK

R. Smith - DEN

M. Barber - DAL

R. Williams - DET

If you give me your oppinions on why you've selected the players your would chose then I will take more time posting my response on your thread. Thank you!

First, a tip: You will get better answers if you post your team and league size and any non-stantard scoring used. That said, this is still almost a no-brainer. 1. Roy is money. 2. Lamont WILL have much better days. 3. Rod - if you need 2 wrs instead of RB help. 4. Barber is a good but speculative pick-up - he only becomes better than a weak bye week filler if Julius goes down (good chance tho). 5. C.Jax - why bother?

My team is listed in my Sig, this is a 12 team league with no PPR. 1 pt for ever 10 recieving yards or rush yards. 6 pts for TD's.

Oh and am I crazy for thinking that Jackson will have the best year out of all NE recievers...even though he's already missed a game?? Seems to me like he's a good player to sit on right now.

i really gotta say roy williams is too good a talent to leave on the waiver wire. snatch him up! also lamont jordan, yea his team sucks, but this guy was a point machine last year and you shouldn't leave him teamless. these two are definite pick ups. thanks for comment and voting and good luck on your season

Id snag R. Williams, and Jordan...Jordan has a ok schedule coming up where he can get back on track for a couple weeks, gets tougher after that, but maybe in those couple weeks you can grab something for him.

I think Lamont Jordan and Roy Williams are the best of the five. Jordan may not be good but he won't be as bad as he has been. He has upside and belongs on a team. You have a lot of RBs, but should be able to trade him later. Williams and Smith are both fine, but I think Williams has more upside.

Thanks for mine!

Roy Williams for sure. Especially if you want him this week, playing a horrible Green Bay secondary.

Though your other choice is tougher, I'd avoid Jordan at all costs. Oakland just looks hapless. Then again, something could change on the bye week, but I doubt it.

Chad Jackson looks to be the next in line. With NE's starters being... Troy Brown, Reche Caldwell and him, it's a safe bet that he'll give you some solid production.

I can't say the Jordan improves what you already have at RB. He's a good talent but won't do much with the Raiders always playing from behind.

R. Williams and R Smith are good pickups based on what I see on your roster. R Smith is still the go to guy, especially for Jake struggling. Javon Walker has dropped a lot of passes and Rod NEVER misses a game. Kitna will hook up with Williams a bunch.

Now that i look at your roster, I see you've already picked up C.Jax. Assuming you have cheap or no transaction fees in your league, here's what I would do. 1. Roy for C.Jax. 2. Jordan for BarberIII, 3. Rod for your second TE. There is NO reason to carry 2 TEs on a roster with no transaction fees. Even with T-fees Roy is a no brainer, and so is Lamont. You are over-valuing C.Jax; it is a RB-friendly offense that spreads teh passing game around way too much.

The thing is that I'm 4 on the waiver list and I have already made moves to pick up Williams for Jackson then Jordan for Barber. I just wanted to make sure that these upgrades were worth being on the bottom of the waivers list this early in the season. Should I drop the Jordan waiver incase the first doesn't go through? Or is this pick up still worth it?

Waiver wire management questions are my specialty!

First, are you sure that Waiver Wire order rotates completely regardless of weekly record? Or does it reset every week based on record?

I've played both ways, and you are right, if it rotates completely, you only give up the top of the wire for a STUD! Jordan's situation in OAK is too iffy to qualify IMO. If it is a weekly performance reset, you should go after both.

Assuming it rotates completely, yes the only one worth losing your place for is Roy.
