When was the last time a #1 ranked rook put up real numbers?

Recommended Posts

I really dunno. I think Larry Fitzgerald had a decent rookie year. For a rookie ... but name some more. Where did Bush go in your draft? And what's the verdict? Pending?

I don't remember anyone drafting Moss or Boldin ... I had Boldin as a rookie, off waivers. Still ... it looks like that undrafted rookie ... Marques Colston might be the big steal. A 7th round draft pick, Brees loves him! Can he match Boldin's rookie numbers? As a TE in Yahoo leagues, close enough would be greta!

In the last 5 years that i can think of.....

Caddy 05 (1200+ total yards 6td) and Brown 05 (1100+ total yards 5td)

Michael Clayton 04 (1193 yards 7 td)

Dominic Davis 03 (1300+ total yards 8td)

Anquan Boldin 03 (1377 8td)

Edge broke 1000 yards right ... had what ...7 TDs?

But ... he wasn't a #1 draft pick.

Oh yeah, forgot about Tomlinson, he did ok his rookie season.

Good call.

And they are all looking bad this year, besides Boldin ... who I think is overated, now. He's good, don't get me wrong, but that passing game is bound to implode. Warner wont last. Also, Boldin doesn't count .... nobody drafted Boldin as a rookie.

Who was #1, #2 and #3?

One of those was Cleveland ... with Tim Couch!

Hint ... #2 was Donovan McNabb

I guess the point here is that rookies aren't that good in fantasy.

Plenty of rookies have been draftable in FF over the years. You only have to finish in the top 25 at your position.

Good pick there, for the Bengals.

Oh no ... that's not the point. Rookies can be pure gold too, but the payoff is rare in FF. Particularly with a WR, 7th round draft pick like Colston. I remember a 7th round pick named Charles Way that became a valuable multi-purpose back. He could block, really well, but he could also run, and he could catch. Kinda guy, you never thought could even play in the NFL, too short ... but he was smart, and tough! Ended up with a Superbowl ring.

A guy in one of my leagues picked Randy Moss in the first round when he was a rookie. We all laughed and then he dominated the league. It became the guys calling card, he always drafted some crazy rookie in the first round. He also took Plaxico Burress in the first round! Didnt work out nearly as well......
