Alexander out. Now what?

Recommended Posts

In one of my leagues I took Alexander 2nd overall. We drafted pre-D.Davis injury and I had him also. Now that Alexander is out, I have to decide if I should make a trade for a RB or just play with what I have until he returns. Someone else grabbed Morris and doesn't want to trade him. Another owner who is deep at RB, but very thin at WR has expressed interest in some of my WR's. Should I offer a trade or stick with what I have. Alexander wasn't giving me much before the injury and I am leading the league right now. This is a 12 team redraft, standard scoring 1/2 PPR.

My team:

QB - McNabb, McNair

RB - Alexander, Addai, Jacobs, Benson, M.Strong(just dropped Norwood for Strong)

WR - Boldin, Stallworth, Colston, M.Jones, Cotchery

K - Kasay

DST - Eagles, Falcons

His team:

QB - Warner, Leinart, T.Green

RB - Westbrook, Tiki, Parker, Dunn, J.Jones, M.Barber, Jones-Drew, Betts

WR - Horn, T.Taylor

K - Longwell

DST - Ravens

I am leading the league so I am hesitant to make too much of a change. If I don't make a trade I will be playing Addai and 4 WR's this week. So far my WR's have been putting up good numbers though. He has already put the following players on the trading block: J.Jones, M.Barber, Jones-Drew, Betts, T.Taylor, T.Green. Of those players I like Jones-Drew, but he may not get enough touches to start over 1 of my WR's. I was thinking of making him an offer for FWP or Dunn, but so far most of my WR's have a higher average points per game than these 2. I'd love to get Westbrook, but I don't see him trading him unless I give up Alexander. I thought about offering Boldin for Westbrook since he is really hurting at WR. Any help is appreciated. Leave a link and I'll answer yours.

Since you have the option to play 4 WRs I say stick it out and play with what you have. Nobody he is offering is likely to reliably replace the production you'd be giving up, and Dunn or FWP would cost you even more.

The only thing I would think of is trying to get a good RB for Stallworth. He has history of hammy problems and they have already started bothering him. But I'd also agree with the others, with the ability to start 4 WR you should be find riding it out until SA returns.

Thanks for the help on mine

Our lineup is pretty flexible. I have to start 1 RB, 2WR's and 2 flex spots tha can be RB's or WR's. I am doing fine with my WR's right now, but in the past I have always won with good RB's. I guess I'm just nervous about having to rely on WR's.

stick with alexander. he's not going to be out that long and when he does come back he'll be a different player from what we saw the 1st three weeks. he sustained the injury in week 1. he's already feeling good enough to play this weekend. i'm thinking he'll be back in 2 weeks at the earliest.

I would stick with what you have for now. Your WR's are pretty solid, so I think you should be OK until Alexander comes back.

Should I consider starting Strong this week or stick with Addai and 4 WR's ? Chicago is actually allowing 4.0 yards per carry.

I agree with him, Stallworth pulls a hammy ordering a happy meal. try to shop him for dunn or parker. thanks for the help on mine :bench:

You are in the power position here. You don't have to trade, so ask for something that will really help you. If he says no, then so be it. I would try getting Dunn or FWP for Stallworth, or maybe just Betts for Colston.

Otherwise, just stick with what you have. Do not trade SA.

I can get J.Jones for Stallworth. Should I take it?

Try to get Dunn for Stallworth, Jones might be a good option too if you want to keep him just to recover for Alexander's injury but he'll get injured sometime down the stretch and if Addai splits carries all season, your overall RB core will still be thin. But you might not need to make a change if you feel confident enough to survive 2 weeks without Alexander.

Thanks.

The reason I was considering Stallworth for J.Jones is because Jones is past his bye week and has some favorable matchups coming up. Right now I am leaning towards staying with what I have or seeing if he will take Cotchery for J.J.

If you want to stand pat iwth your team as close to what it it now I would suggest giving up one of your upstart WR's Cotchery or Colston and try and get J. Jones. He's the best value right now, but I would feel him out to try and figured out which one or 2 he's looking to move. If you wanted to upgrade both RB spots I would offer Boldin and Addia and try and get Dunn and J. Jones.

Thanks for replying to mine.

If he'll do Barber III as well i think it's a steal, but i would even do Stallworth/Cotchery/Jacobs/Benson for Jones/barber III/Dunn

or maybe Jacobs/benson/cotchery for jones/barber III (cotchery will not keep producing and benson will be splitting carries at best this year) and a handcuff for a handcuff is pretty even in my book
