wiffleball 4,790 Posted November 1, 2006 So, we don't want Iraq to become a festing shiithole that's a playground to Islamic Militants and Al Qaeda-types, right? And it'd be even WORSE if a country like that was attacking a Christian nation right next door, huh? So WTF aren't we in Somlia? I mean, other than Somalia doesn't have oil.... If we meant what we said, we'd be in Somalia right now.

wiffleball 4,790 Posted November 1, 2006 Seriously, basically the picture that Bush and crew paint of Iraq is happening in Somalia right now. If the idea of Iraq turning into a terrorists, Islamic fundamentalist hotbed is so abhorent, doesn't it make sense to go after the the country that either already IS - or damn near on the brink? - No fan of the idea of going into Sammy-land, but it sure seems inconsistent with "The Bush Doctrine". What's the difference between a terrorist who attacks us and is trained in Iraq vs. Somalia?
tony hardware 0 Posted November 1, 2006 So WTF aren't we in Somlia? Caption? Ok! In an effort to increase its appeal among African-American viewers, Saturday Night Live prepares, "The Coneheads II: Ethiopian Vacation." :endcaption:

What's the difference between a terrorist who attacks us and is trained in Iraq vs. Somalia? If you want to draw another parallel, look at Lybia. Lybia was a self-admitted terrorist state. Their government was found guilty of not only harboring and training terrorists, but actually being behind several terroist acttacks on the U.S. We had a policy of freezing their assets, enacting a trade embargo, and international sanctions, that worked so well that they finally had to capitulate to our demands or face economic devastation. Hindsight in Iraq showed us that very similar tactics were working in Iraq at the time of invasion. Unfortunately, our foriegn policy history has always been dictated by business interests. They were working alright, they worked fine for Sadam, France, Russia and guys at the UN. get a grip.
