Lionsjunkie 1 Posted December 24, 2006 Wifey has been trying to get me to move west for some time now....and really wants to be in Colorado So, which are the good cities that are reasonably affordable.....250-300K for a home Schools are not a priority...looking for a more active lifestlyle and get away from all of the old focks that are retiring to SW Florida ...the once hot job market is now not so hot, so amove may be forthcoming in due time. Suggestions ........ I'm not a fan of the freezing cold either...I always have that impression that Colorado=cold TIA

Wildman 0 Posted December 24, 2006 Agree...my dad lived there...my sister and brother went to Cherry Creek High School...one of the better public schools in the country. You will thank Dan later!!! Colorado is cold in winter. Dry--no humidity, which you'll probably not miss at all. Weather is best described as CRAZY. Once visited as a kid in the month of May when it was 70-80 every day. The night before I was scheduled to leave, it snowed so hard that the airport was closed down and we had to put chains on the car tires to get around once we could dig out!!! It's never boring weather wise....

DanXIII 8 Posted December 24, 2006 When I lived there it was in a 1 BR 1 BA apartment at the corner of York and 15th. The rent was $650/month (and those are 1997 dollars). I guess it's probably doubled since those days. Still, find a way to afford it if you can. I had everything (access to downtown Denver and yet you feel like you're in your own community). Strike 5,328 Posted December 24, 2006 Something to consider, as I did, when buying here. Denver has built a couple of nice light rail lines from downtown to the 'burbs. I purposely bought my house within walking distance of the light rail station because there is SO MUCH to do downtown I knew I'd be there a lot. The light rail will drop you off right in front of the Pepsi Center (Avs, Nuggets, and Six Flags amusement park), Mile High (Broncos), or take you all the way to the heart of LODO, the happening part of downtown and just a couple of blocks from Coors Field (Rockies). I also get to take a bus from the light rail station to the airport so I don't have to leave my car there. BTW, I live in Littleton and the prices range from the prices you mentioned and up some so you could certainly get a place in this neck of the woods.
