Bucs OL Davis arrested

Written by: Stephen Holder ¦ 4/3/2007

Source: blogs.tampabay.com

And in other team news, offensive lineman Anthony Davis was arrested in his hometown of Victoria, Va. on Sunday and charged with disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor. The exact nature of the situation is not clear, and Victoria police chief James A. Drayton declined to elaborate.

Davis' agent, Jeffrey Chilcoat, would not comment on the details but said the incident that prompted the arrest was instigated by a person other than Davis. Chilcoat believes there is a chance Davis, 27, will be cleared of any wrongdoing.

Davis, who was later released on his own recognizance, is scheduled for a court appearance on April 25.

The California Highway Patrol said Byrd was arrested about 20 minutes north of L.A. at 2:34 a.m. Sunday morning. A DUI charge is expected to be filed against the former USC Trojan in the near future.

"It's not the kind of news you want to hear," Rams' Head Coach Scott Linehan said. "We'll turn that over to the league."

Byrd is currently facing assault and armed criminal action charges stemming from an arrest outside a nightclub in St. Louis Dec. 4.

AP reports Minnesota Vikings CB Cedric Griffin was freed on $50 bail after being arrested early Sunday in downtown Minneapolis and charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct, authorities said. Griffin, 24, was released from the Hennepin County jail at 4:45 a.m. Two witnesses told KSTP-TV that the Vikings cornerback was thrown out of the Spin nightclub for not pulling up his pants. A court appearance for Griffin is scheduled Friday.

Cameras nail Cardinals QB Leinart speeding on Loop 101

http://www.fflivewire.com/Article.asp?ID=4182007bzt1506zu

One of Arizona's most familiar faces has joined the long line of those photographed by the speed photo enforcement cameras on the Loop 101.

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Matt Leinart is scheduled to appear in Scottsdale City Court on April 25 and again on April 30 for arraignments on three speeding violations on the Loop 101 while driving his 2006 Corvette, according to information from the court.

Leinart, 23, of Chandler, was clocked speeding 77 mph at 6:44 p.m. on March 24, and 77 mph again at 2:06 a.m. on March 25, according to information from the court. He also was clocked speeding 77 mph at 10:17 p.m. on March 28, according to information from the court.

If found guilty of the speeding violations on the 65 mph limit highway, Leinart will have to pay $162 for each ticket.

Overall, Leinart has been clocked speeding four times in less than a year.

Leinart paid $157 for speeding ticket last year after he was photographed speeding 56 mph in a 45 mph zone at Shea Boulevard and North 90th Street, according to information from the city court.

Speeders from all 50 states have been photographed speeding along Scottsdale's eight-mile stretch of the 101, including more than 225,000 speeders in the first nine months of the city's controversial speed photo enforcement's pilot program that lasted from Feb. 22 to Oct. 22, 2006.

AP reports Minnesota Vikings CB Ronyell Whitaker was arrested early Thursday after a check of records revealed an outstanding warrant for misdemeanor drunken driving and careless driving charges. Police found Whitaker's car parked illegally in downtown Minneapolis, and a check of his driver's license brought up the bench warrant, Minneapolis Police Lt. Amelia Huffman said. It was not immediately known when or where Whitaker was initially cited. He was released from custody early Thursday after posting bail. A court appearance is scheduled for May 2.

Joc, I think this could be the begining of offseason fantasy football. Next year, anyone could make a list of 10 players who they think will get arrested, and pick 5 NFL teams who will represent the most. 15 points for a correctly chosen player, and 5 points for every player on a chosen franchise.

FYI Update....

Broncos WR Marshall to stand trial June 7

Written by: Charley Able ¦ 4/19/2007

Source: www.rockymountainnews.com

CASTLE ROCK - Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall is scheduled to stand trial June 7 on charges of false imprisonment and domestic violence stemming from a March 26 incident involving his ex-girlfriend.

Marshall, who was in court for a pretrial conference, has been free on a recognizance bond since the incident.

"I think the case is moving along in the direction I anticipated, and I think we will have the case resolved very quickly in a favorable fashion," said Marshall's attorney, Harvey Steinberg.

The accusations against Marshall were lodged after he allegedly tried to stop a taxicab that Jameelah L. Watley had summoned to take her to the airport to catch a flight back to her home in Georgia. Investigators say Marshall blocked the cab with his car then punched the windows of the cab.

Marshall has said he was only trying to recover his cell phone from Watley before she left town and that he never struck the cab.

Douglas County deputies arrested Marshall about an hour later at his apartment in Highlands Ranch.

Marshall and Watley told deputies they had been arguing that night at Denver International Airport and she missed her flight.

Reports today are that CB Ronyell Whitaker was falsely arrested. The police apologized. Oops. sorry 'bout that.

I don't think false arrests should count.

More info per RotoWorld:

A warrant has been issued in Atlanta for Chiefs OL Chris Terry, who reportedly failed to show for a court date last Friday.

Terry is accused of slapping his girlfriend in the face with a fistful of cash at a nightclub and dumping beer on her head. The Chiefs' projected starter at right tackle, Terry was suspended for the entire 2005 season for off-field issues. Look for Kansas City to alter its draft plans, as we may have our first lifetime ban under new commissioner Roger Goodell. Apr. 24 - 8:20 pm et

Adam Teicher, of the Kansas City Star, reports Kansas City Chiefs DE Jared Allen will be suspended for the first four games of the 2007 season for a violation of the league's substance-abuse policy. "I'm sorry my actions of last year will affect my teammates, coaches and fans," Allen said. "I have definitely learned from my mistakes and am glad to finally put this entire thing behind me once and for all. I will be with the Chiefs this year and will do everything I can to help bring a championship back to the great fans of KC."

Not sure if it counts but a league suspension

Bengals' Nicholson Arrested Again

By JOE KAY

CINCINNATI (AP) -Linebacker A.J. Nicholson was arrested on a domestic violence charge Friday, the first arrest of a Cincinnati Bengals player since commissioner Roger Goodell cracked down on misconduct last month.

Nicholson already was one of nine Bengals players arrested during a nine-month span, turning the team into a prime example of player misconduct.

With all the attention Vick and Pac Man have been getting, I guess the Bengals were feeling left out.

Sun May 20, 2007 --from FFMastermind.com

New York Jets CB Justin Miller was arrested early Sunday and charged with third-degree misdemeanor assault after he allegedly punched a woman in a New York City nightclub, ESPN's Jeremy Schaap is reporting. Miller was apprehended after a police chase at 4:20 a.m. Police said Miller was swinging at a man, but hit the woman after the man ducked. The woman has a laceration on her face and swelling and pain in her knee. "I want to apologize to everyone for this situation, including my family, my teammates, the Jets organization, our fans and the entire NFL," Miller said in a statement released on Sunday. "I understand that serving in the NFL is an honor and that I have an obligation to behave in a manner that reflects the privilege I have been given." The Jets are evaluating the situation and plan to get the commissioner's office involved.
