typical wedding cakes are made with either fondant or buttercream... not sure where you're getting the cream cheese frosting from

fondant = very smooth, like a sheet of glass smooth

buttercream = textured such as a cream cheese frosting, but usually things like crosshatch patterns etc...

Yeah, you're right. Most sites/recipes I've found have butter cream but I checked some homemade recipes and they all have a cream cheese base. I guess it's a popular option for a home cake, but not recommended for a wedding cake. I'll go butter creme.

 

FYI, I'm not making it, just looking for one and doing research.
