Vick still being shopped ?

Recommended Posts

Down in ATL, word is that Vick is still being shopped. New coaching staff thinks Schaub is better fit for their system.

Primarily to OAK. I don't think Vick can turn OAK into a great team, but he could make them respectible immediately. And team with Moss. Probably make Jordan better immediately.

I know this trade seemed to have passed its time. But Russell nor Quinn are going to be the answer in the next 2 years. Davis has to be thinking about now instead of later.

Any reason this still can't happen?

Agree, disagree, disagree, disagree.

my thought all along about ATL trying to shop Vick, if and when they seriously try, is that there will be very few teams that would want him. at least if the HC has any say about it.

He requires an offense built around his particular skillset, and when he goes down for a few games (not if), you have to reshape the offense for the backup.

Add that to the fact that Vick is the ATL crowd attraction (walk in their stadium on a Sunday and see how many jerseys don't have the #7 on them) and you have a problem getting the value you want/expect out of him.... With that said, if any team is going to want him, it's going to be OAK (if they make a move before ADavis croaks that is). He'd definitely be an improvement over the last few seasons at the QB position, but OAK definitely doesn't need any help on the selling of tix or merchandise end...

Oakland with Vick and Calvin Johnson sure looks better than Russell and Moss. But Oakland would have to give up more than Moss to get Vick. And with the Horn signing, ATL probably feels set at WR. They're other WR's may not be very good, but they've spent some high picks on them so they're going to get every opportunity to prove themselves.

OAK should offer Lamont Jordan and a draft pick (anything but #1) to ATL for Vick and Dunn... it would give Petrino a bigger style RB in Jordan (5'10" 235lbs), but more importantly...

OAK could keep Moss, add Vick, draft Calvin, keep Porter, and use Gabriel/Curry as #4/5 WRs... and they could use Steve Spurrier as a "special consultant" to design the offense...

They could just put Vick in shotgun along w/ Dunn and run 4-wide all day long... sure there may be ego problems, and not enough balls to go around... but it's not like their OL is going to block anyone anyway... so just let Vick scramble around while one of those 4 WRs gets open, or just dump it off to Dunn, or just scramble for 30 yards...

i can see it now, with all of the WRs going deep every play, opposing D's would have to leave a hole for Vick (or occassionally Dunn) to run on almost every down...

Vick doesn't fit into anyone's system.

Or just blitz every play and either get to Vick or settle for an incomplete pass when his receiver coming across the middle drops the pass after Vick throws the ball full force at him.

I honestly believe we'll never know how great Vick could be as they change systems constantly and it's tough to learn a new system every year or 2, it's called continuity and the Falcons don't have any.

And I'll give you one guess who's repsonsible for the Falcons having to change the system "every year or two".

1. vick is not going anywhere.

2. Petrino said that he runs more than people give him credit for. His goal is to get bigger and strong linemen in there to establish a power running team. He said that you cannot win games if you cannot run the ball in the 4th quarter or if you cannot stop the run in the 4th quarter. He would also like to add another power back to compliment Dunn and Norwood....for short yardage and goalline situations.

Louisville was the only school in I-A in the top 20 in both rushing yards and passing yards last year. #7 passing (286.5 ypg) and #10 rushing (190.3 ypg). And they did that without Michael Bush.

How about T.J. Duckett?

Vick..but again you have to have continuity on offense to get better and it's tough to do when you change systems every year or 2.

Why would anyone want 53.8% completion rated passer when Brooks or Harrington can be had easier and for less money with his 56% completion rating. Heck, Carr even has 60% rating and could be had cheaper :D

vick behlows. if they trade for vick and draft Big Calvin Johnson what a huge waste of talent at WR. I am sure OAKfan will love watching him sail the outs over the two tallest WRs in the game heads and overthrow the flys all game

That would be pretty cool to see a Moss for Vick trade. I would like two things about that.

1. All the players I avoid in fantasy football would be on one team - Any Raiders and Mike Vick.

2. I'd like to see an offense with Joe Horn on one side, Randy Moss on the other, Crumpler at TE, Norwood and Dunn at RBs.

So funny ...............................................................

Because Vick is a playmaker , perhaps the most exciting player in the NFL and the Falcons coaching of the last two years did nt know how to use him .

Last season the Falcons had no RB or WR worthy to play in the NFL so Vick was left alone and did real well if you figure he had to do everything by himself. So before you write stupidities like that use a bit of your brain.

Dunn is finished and Norwood with his 175 pounds when wet does nt scare anyone .At WR they had nobody so the defenses were geared to stop Vick and still Vick had a good season.

This season they signed Horn ( should help ) now they need a good RB and there less and less available , they have to make a move to go up in the draft cause there are no decent RB left out there ( Brown is a waste )

Umm I think Norwood is listed at 6'0" 203 pounds. He averaged 6.4 yards per carry. I think that is pretty respectable.....
