(AAPL.O: Quote, Profile , Research) posted on Wednesday a quarterly profit that soared 88 percent, fueled by strong sales of its MacBook computers and iPods. Net income for Apple's fiscal second quarter rose to $770 million, or 87 cents per share, from $410.0 million, or 47 cents per share. Revenue rose 21 percent to $5.26 billion from $4.36 billion. The results blew away Apple's own forecast of 54 cents to 56 cents and which has historically been cautious.
