*** '07 Player Projections By NFL Team ***

Recommended Posts

To prepare FFTodayers for the upcoming ’07 season, starting 5/14 will post threads listing offensive players by NFL team and invite posters to attach projections to each offensive player.

Posting of just commentary on one or mutliple players, instead of projections is welcomed and encouraged as well.

Will post 3 team threads per week (2 during 4th of July week) alphabetically by team city, so will have all 32 NFL teams posted before August 1st.

Through beginning of FF season will hopefully have this thread pinned as an ‘Archives’ thread, so will have opportunity to post replies for any previous team at any time.

Notes:

1st year for Wade Phillips as HC, previous NFL experience: 5 as HC, 20 as DC

QB TRomo: 1st year as anticipated ‘Day 1’ starter

WR TOwens: 12th season, 33 years old

WR TGlenn: 12th season, 33 years old

Key Questions For '07 Season:

How will new HC WPhillips affect team offense?

Is TRomo the ‘guy’? Or was BJohnson brought in to compete?

How much do TOwens and TGlenn have left?

What will be carry (overall/rz/gl)/rec distrubition between JJones and MBarber?

I have Owens as my #1 FF wideout this year.....I'll think you'll see him have one last "monster year" before his skills and/or attitude really start to hurt his production. He and Romo will make beautiful music together.....

No doubt the potential is there from FUTO, and Romo seems to gel well with him, and he's in his second year with the team, and happy, and it seems that his personality issues are finally behind him and..... what a sec, this was exactly my projection for him in year 2 with the Iggles..... nm

i could see romo being ok and i am a cowboy fan but i have to see more before i drink the kool aid he really was ok down the stretch but i dont think he is a solid #1 right now

to could be great look at the #s even with all the drops just think he cuts down the drops he would of ended w/ 100 catches also it was nt till romo started that he started getting the ball so i could see him go over 100 catched 1300 yards and 13-15 tds

glenn once again should be solid 64 catches 4 tds and 950 yards

i think witten is going to have a great year 80+ catches 10 tds 950 yards

then of course you have rbs barber should see the end zone 12+ times getting around 800 yards and jj 1100 yards 4-5 tds

So much of the fantasy production lies in the hands of the offensive line. For this year at least, Dallas is well stocked at the Tackles. C is solid as well. Guard play, to the contrary, is open to question. Leonard Davis is assumed to be the answer on one side, replacing Marco Rivera. That's a good start, though his work ethic leaves a lot to be desired. He could be anything from an outright problem, to an All Pro, and I have no clue as to which direction he's leaning. Lets say that running right will be a good idea this year in Dallas. The other G, Kosier, is the "non-problem" position. That is not high praise. Suffice to say that if this is the weakest position on the line, it would mean only that Davis didnt crater. I'll be optimistic and give the line a C+, moving to a B with experience.

That puts it ahead of last year. Last year RB's racked up 1700 yards and 19 rushing TD's. I see similar numbers this year, possibly a bit better. Call it 200 and 20. Break that down JJ 1100 yards 6 TD, Barber III 800 yards 12 TD, others 100 and 2.

The key to the passing game will be pass protection. If Romo has time to throw, he is a competent NFL QB. However, he is not going to beat you with his legs, or throwing on the run. Last year they posted an excellent 7.06 yards per attempt. I do NOT see that happening again. Too much of that was in the one monster game. More like 6.8 - 6.9, still pretty good, but not top 5. Call it 3500 and 24 TD's, off 10%. Dividing that up, call it 75 rec 1000 yards 10 TD for TO, 65 rec 900 yards 6 TD for Glenn, 60 rec for 700 yards 3 TD for Witten, 50 rec 600 yards 4 TD for Crayton, 300 yards and 2 TD for everyone else.

Last year this team was second in the NFL in 1st downs generated. If they approach that level, the D should put them into a lot of late game running. For fantasy purposes, Dallas was middle of the league last year on D. That should change. Sacks will be up, and hopefully Int's. FF and FR were both quite good, so no improvement is expected there.

If TO can stay healthy and out of trouble there is no reason that he can't at least dupilcate last years numbers. The question is trying to figure out which rb will have more value.

That much seems clear. MBarber III is much better in the red zone.

For me, one only has to look at the YPC and the amount of receptions Barber had a year ago.

It can be debated over which back is better, but no one can debate that Barber is way more productive. With Phillips coming from a team that had Mr. Everthing Tomlinson, to me that says Barber will be the workhorse in that offense this year, and that's one of the reasons he's on my radar as a third back.

JJ has a long run capacity that MBIII doesnt. That matters.

Judging from the play in the game against Denver today, Dallas is going to be very happy with their new RG. Leonard Davis anchored the point of attack on most short yardage situations, on one occasion springing Barber for 11 yards on 3rd and short.

In other words, it may be preseason, but he's blowing people off the line.
