wiffleball 4,790 Posted June 7, 2007 New York, NY (AHN) - Fox News is under the spotlight after airing a clip of House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) while talking about indicted Rep. William Jefferson (D-LA), apparently mistaking the two African-American lawmakers. Despite a lengthy apology read on-air by an anchor, Rep. Conyers says, "Fox News has a history of inappropriate on-air mistakes that are neither fair, nor balanced. This type of disrespect for people of color should no longer be tolerated." "I am personally offended by the network's complete disregard for accuracy in reporting and lackluster on-air apology." Around the U.S., newspapers and blogs assailed Fox for the mistake; the Chicago Tribune ran the headline, "Fox News- fair, balanced, unable to tell blacks apart?" Media Matters adds, "Fox News' African-American elected official mix-up not its first." In Fox's original apology, Martha MacCallum told viewers, "Yesterday at this time, news of the indictment of Congressman William Jefferson came down. We mistakenly ran the wrong video to accompany this story, and we apologize for that error." John Conyers William "cold cash" Jefferson Too funny. Fair, Balanced and Slightly Stupid. Lets see, there's about an 8 inch height difference, and about a 20 year age gap, but hey - they all look alike to Faux. "Hey - we said Fair and Balanced. We never said Accurate or Intelligent!" wiffleball 4,790 Posted June 7, 2007 Would love to have been in the control room for that one; "Quick! get me some stock footage of the Black Congressman!" "Which one?" "Doesn't matter- just PICK one!" The other newsnets were having a ball with this one. It's one thing to grab the wrong tape - we've seen that dozens of times. - But usually when that happens, the news reader will say something like - that's obviously the wrong tape, we apologize for the confusion. This one? A long extended clip - and not a word from the tard commentator, his producer, his director, the 20 other people in the production room staring at the tape..... Too funny when a so-called News Network can't even recognize the difference between a well-known committe Chairman and an infamous scammer who's been in the news for weeks. You are neither accurate or intelligent, unless you can show where Fox actually said: Fox News: They all look alike to us. or: "Hey - we said Fair and Balanced. We never said Accurate or Intelligent!" I think you are just making shiot up...............again.
