Keeper league: Drop Stallworth for Jacoby Jones?

Recommended Posts

This isn't really an over reaction to week 1 on my part, but I'm thinking Jacoby might have more upside and be able to provide more consistency... and by the end of the year might have shown enough to keep him. I've had Stallworth before and between the hamstrings and the WR rotation in NE I'm just not sure he's worth holding onto at this point.

I know what he's capable of, but I doubt NE will let him show it with any consistency. Any thoughts?

That is def a tough choice for you but I would have to say yes that jones has quiet a bit of upside that you would be able to drop stallworth.. and besides Stallworth may/will get lost in the shuffle in NE since he isnt playing at the moment while Jones is going to get looks/touches in Houston since he is the no 2 guy

I don't think Donte will get enough looks in NE with that stacked WR core. Yeah, he will have a couple games where he goes off but not enough to start him on a consistent basis. Jacoby has talent - he's a big guy, lankey and tough. And he's a perfect compliment to AJ on the other side. With all the double teams that will go AJ's way, I expect Jacoby to see his fair share of looks. His upside is better than Donte "Ow my hammy" Stallworth.

Wow thats a tough decision. It really depends on if you are a risk taker. Jacoby has tremendous upside and Shaub looked good. Stallworth will be consistant when he plays i think. I would probably take a chance on Jacoby personally.

THanks for mine.

Jeff

i actually just dropped stallworth in favor of another RB. i didn't like the week 1 performance either, as you mentioned. he is too inconsistent and is in the wide open offense of the Pats. take a shot with jones.

If you think you can get away with waiting till sunday's games to make the move I would do that just to see if Stallworth has any real value. It looks like Welker might be the other man to Moss. I know Brady likes to spread the wealth but JJ in Houston seems to be rising and soon to be starting. If you also have PR/KR TD's in your league it will be more incentive to get Jacoby.

Good luck and thanks for answering mine.

Wrap it up. Jones has far more upside as a keeper. He has great physical skills but is raw as an NFL WR. But, Schuab demonstrates great vision and with the double teams on Andre, Jacoby will get targeted more frequently. And if you are in an IDP league he can get you return stats. Stallworth will put up a few monster games, but Jones has more upside.

I missed my reply . Jacoby Jones and AJ should make a great 1-2 punch like the other great ones we all know. Stallworth is in a crowd and probably no better than the slot receiver Welker, certainly not touching Moss.

I agree with this guy overall.

but I'd send out trade feelers now to see if there is anyone willing to pay for him before you drop him outright. I'd bet money that you may find some interest. maybe someone will offer something you actually want.

Assuming Moss gets one third of the looks per game, that leaves about 20 or so passes split between Welker, stallworth, and the other assorted receivers and RB's.

Brady has a history of spreading the wealth evenly. so that probably means 4-6 looks per game. if he drops 1 per game and one pass per game is off target, we are looking at 2-4 catches per game. Good enough for a bench guy, but not what you want in a starter.

if noone is willing to pay for Stallworth, I'd consider waiting until the week 2 game to see how he performs there. If he has a good game, or at least lots of targets, I'd consider keeping him or I'd send out the trade feelers again. (probably the latter)

my thought is that the guy still has enough hype surrounding him that someone will take a chance on him. so I wouldnt be surprised if you are offered a WR for him.
