Is he really? I just thought he made sh*tty music, did nice things for farmers, married a complete babe and smoked 800 cigarettes a day. Oh and lives in a little pink house.

Did anyone else catch the irony in those commercials? I mean the whole morphing effect is being used by everyone and it's kinda cool, but they tried to morph through all the periods of Chevy history there....and uh, I'm no racist but just observing for historical accuracy why were there black people in every scene? That certainly wasn't an accurate depiction of the American landscape of the 40s, 50s, 60s and such.

I mean, in the 40s clip, there was a black man posing for a picture with all his white friends. This would never have happend in a racially charged country with a day laborer of color.

2nd cut to the 50s, with a bunch of mid-west looking sock-hoppers jumping out of the trucks to watch the fireworks shows - cute black couple in the background "oohing and ahhhing" the fireworks as though there was no segregation during this ugly period of American history? Somehow Civil Rights and integration happened before the 1950s in Chevy's quaint vision of how things were? :headbanger:

3rd scene - the 60s and the football team. They had a black player on the HS team? Yeah - that happened a lot in small midwestern towns...the people of color had all the same rights as the other students and were always allowed to play for the HS team. Not.

4th scene - rainy camping trip - bunch of rednecks going fishing, and of course they have a black friend of the 2 people they took with them.

Look, as said I'm not a racist and I know/respect many people of color - and I discussed the commercial with one on the phone at length yesterday - they called the commercial "insulting revisionist history for profit".

I agree with that assesment completely.

Chevy = :thumbsup:

LMAO!! How 'bout them HUSKERS? Has USC stopped scoring yet? :overhead: :mellow: :thumbsup: ;)

Yeah, we lost to the number one team in the country. Wanna look up the record of the CU-Nebraska series in recent history (or long term history)? I'll be here waiting.

Who fockin cares? WTF does the race card get thrown out all the focking time. Hey the Indians got slaughtered, focked out of their land and turned into alcoholics but I don't hear anyone crying about their oppression. And my Irish ancestors were treated like dirt when they entered thru Ellis Island at the turn of the century. Maybe we should let the African Americans open casinos and call it even. :rolleyes:
