B. Berrian for B. Marshall and S. Holmes for W. Welker

Wide Receiver Help (Please)

Note: Please leave a link to your request and I will answer. Thanks!

These are 2 independent transactions:

  • B. Berrian (CHI) for B. Marshall (DEN)

  • S. Holmes (PIT) for W. Welker (BUF)

Brandon Marshall and Wes Welker are both actually available as a free agents. I was thinking of dropping Bernard Berrian and picking Brandon Marshall up and dropping Santonio Holmes and picking up Wes Welker. This would be for a flex player on my team or a WR replacement if one of my studs goes down like Andre Johnson did this past weekend (fingers crossed he recovers). Tough call on both. Thoughts?

Here's my lineup in a 10-team league. (It's sick, at least I think so, and I drafted in the sixth place out of 10)

Starters

QB Tony Romo

RB Joseph Addai

RB Willie Parker

WR Andre Johnson

WR Randy Moss

TE Vernon Davis

WR/R B. Berrian

K Robbie Gould

DST Pittsburgh

Bench

QB Brett Farve

RB M. Jones Drew

RB L. Betts

WR R. Curry

WR S. Holmes

K J. Wilkins

DST Oakland

i'd go with marshall, keep holmes. berrian has to rely on gross grossman to even get points and that's just ... gross, man. marshall has looked great so far. but i like holmes better than welker ... welker will get you yards, sure, but you don't know how brady and his spreading the ball will affect welker's stats week to week. santonio holmes is the for sure number 2 receiver in pittsburgh and also has the potential to catch the long ball every once in a while.

brandon marshall over berrian is a no brainer...keep santonio, wes welker is on a team with too many options for him to be a consistent reliable fantasy scorer.

I think Welker will be the Mike Furrey of this year. I think Brady is going to go to him a ton and he will be the possession receiver. If you are in a PPR I like Welker alot. TD/Yardage not as much. Not to mention he's a short white guy in the slot on a good passing team.

Berrian will get you some TDs and yards, but Grossman is SO unreliable.

Marshall will be a guy that will get you a solid 5 catches, 50-75 yds/game and a TD every other game or so.

I like both Marshall and Welker better than Berrian and Holmes.

Marshall has a much bigger upside. He's already putting up average numbers, but I think with a few more games with Cutler at the helm, the numbers with increase.

Welker has been amazing in my mind. He sees tons of throws coming his way and he's always a threat to break one loose. Brady may spread the ball but the numbers don't lie. This guy winds up with nice yardage and potentially a score each week.

Berrian relies on the most inconsistent QB in the league, Grossman. Increased play from him could make and receiver in that offense more appealing, but you can't even start this guy if you have to. There's a chance he could go out there and not catch a single pass.

Holmes is a decent option, I just like Welker more. Pittsburgh also runs the football and relies on their smashmouth game more than NE does.

I'd go for both pick ups. Good luck.

I LIKE WES WELKER ALOT I THINK BRADY WILL GO TO HIM ALOT THIS YEAR. IF THEY START DOUBLE TEAMING MOSS HIS STATS WILL EVEN BE BETTER.

I PERSONALLY LIKE BERRIAN OVER HOLMES, JUST BECAUSE HE IS THE NUMBER 1 OPTION. THE ONLY DOWN SIDE IS GROSSMAN.

Thanks for helping me.

I like Welker for sure.

As a Bronco fan, I'd love to say Marshall - but I am not sold on their offense or on Marshall. That being said I am not sold on Holmes either. I think after 2 weeks that's a toss up for me, though others obviously have differing opinion.

Good luck.

Welker and Holmes. I like Marshall, but I think Holmes is poised to have a big season, especially with Ben looking good. And once teams start devoting more resources to guarding Moss, Welker should see more yards as Stallworth hasn't really meshed well with Brady yet.

I may step out on a limb here. I like Berrian! He is coming around and I think if you hold him you will see the dividends pay off in the next couple of weeks. I know Grossman is frustrating people, but who else is he going to throw to. Other than Berrian all he really has is Moose! Stallworth is a gamble...... he seems to be hit & miss, depending upon the day. The rest is a tough decision. I like Holmes and Marshall as well.

Thanks for answering mine.

Mike
