trade help please

Ok so I am in first in my league and I am trying to secure a good RB as the season winds down. I have S. Alexander, K. Jones, Maurice Morris, and Cedric Benson. As you can see I need some help. I was offered:

 

GIVE UP:

S. Alexander

Drew Brees

 

RECEIVE:

Chris Chambers

Clinton Portis

 

Obviously I would love to get rid of Alexander, especially since he is hurt and may be done anyway. I have Hasselbeck as my other QB who has produced pretty nicely, but Brees seems to have more potential as he has stepped back up to numbers like last season. As for getting Portis, his schedule doesn't look extremely favorable although I am sure he will still produce decent numbers. Chambers is in a better position in San Diego, but Rivers has been struggling. I probably won't play Chambers anyway with my other two WRs being TO and Burress.

 

Will Portis make the difference between the points Brees will put up and Hasselbeck?

 

Let me know if you think I should do this or not....

I lean towards not making the deal. You've got Morris in the event Shaun is done. Sure he's not a stud but he is a decent starting RB.

Brees has been on fire recently and theres no reason not to think he won't continue. Portis has had 1 good game. Considering you probably won't be starting Chambers, I think you can get a better/more consistent RB than Portis for Brees.

 

If the other team is desperate for a QB, perhaps you could offer Hasselbeck and Alexander for Portis?

Even though you have two great QB's I think you can get more for Brees if you are looking to trade him.

Hit hell no to that trade. Portis hasnt done much of anything this year and you are picking up a WR you really dont even need. You can get better value for Brees right now.

I ended up getting him to do this trade:

 

Hasselbeck and Alexander

 

for

 

Portis and Devery Henderson.

 

 

Yeah I know I didn't get much with Henderson, but he isn't getting much with Alexander.

Yep I'd do it too. With TO/Burress/Cotchery you don't have to make a big pickup at WR (I assume it's a start 2WR, no ppr?, Cotchery's much less valuable in that format but I think he's got massive upside). I'd have stuck with Chambers over Henderson actually even.

 

If you keep Alexander and he's done, you have Morris to go with from there, but if you trade him and he's done, you STILL have Morris.

 

And Hasselbeck is a QB I expect to have a very big 2nd half, so while you lose Brees, you get stability with your RBs and don't have to put Benson in.
