Jimmie Rollins- NL NVP

Recommended Posts

I'm proud of the baseball writers for recognizing the great year that Jimmie Rollins had.

In many years, things like team leadership, fielding, and speed tend to get overlooked for pure power.

Great selection!

Jimmy Rollins wasn't even the MVP of the Phillies. Ryan Howard coming back from his injury and producing at a high level was the key to the Phillies season.

Holliday was robbed.

Holliday was robbed in the other thread about this, too.

No way. Holliday is a liability on the field and is hitting his home runs at Coors Field. Take about 25% away if he were playing anywhere else.

He's a great young player, but Rollins was the year's best. Can you imagine a leadoff hitter getting over 90 RBIs? When you consider that over 20% of his at-bats are guaranteed to be with the bases empty, that's amazing.

B)

He was 2nd in fielding% among NL LFers and 1st in Zone Rating, which measures the percentage of balls fielded in his defensive "zone"

Rollins' Citizens Bank Park is more HR friendly than Coors, HTH

Holliday outperformed Rollins in Batting Average, Hits, Doubles, Home Runs, RBI, OBP, SLG, won a batting title and nearly won the triple crown. To say he got robbed is an understatement.

I'd say that the country's baseball writers, who follow the game for a living, know a little more about it than you do. Rollins was voted MVP. Therefore, I'm right and you're wrong.

You're the typical unknowledgable fan. Just look at the power numbers and disregard leadership, fielding, and the other intangibles that make a player valuable. You probably don't appreciate all that Derek Jeter has accomplished, either, since he never hit 40 home runs or drove in 120 runs.

Also, I love how there's now a "defensive zone" statistic. If they make up enough new stats, every player in baseball will lead the league in something. :bench:

LOL, Newbie.

Your blood hasn't even dried on the sluice gates of my post and you're back cracking jokes. :bench: Maybe you should try reading it again :first:

Have you seen these blabbering twats give interviews on TV? They are the stupidest people on this planet other that the morons who vote on the college football polls and the Pro Bowl.

For the record, I know more about football and watch more games than NFL scouts too.
