ROME (AFP) - A 70 year-old Italian man who had been pretending to be blind for 40 years to get an invalid pension was arrested as he drove his car, Sky TG24 television said Thursday.

 

The "particularly nervous" man was stopped during a routine road check in the northern city of Spezia and could not provide a driving licence, city police chief Massimo Giaramita said.

 

"Then we checked his medical record and were amazed to find that he was registered as 100 percent blind," Giaramita said.0

 

He had been claiming an invalidity pension and other benefits from his former employers for 40 years, the report said.

 

 

40 years of fooling the man to get a free pension. How focking dumb are they in italy? He should just move to Massachusetts and be a fire chief for 10 years. You get a pension for life and you can go get another job in another city as a fire chief.

We have a black guy crack addict who walks around the neighborhood pretending to be blind. I think he does have some kind of impairment, but it's a total scam. I suspected as much for a long while. Then one day, I'm like a half-block away from the dude and I hear "Excuse me sir!". Oh yeah, fock off with your blind self. Dude thinks nothing of wandering into traffic just to scam some little blonde thing. I've heard more scams from more people about this guy. Have to find a way to fock with him.

Is there anyway of officially telling if someone is really blind? I mean, if they take a test and say they can't see anything, how can anyone prove them a liar?

Actually, there are some pretty simple tests that you can't fake.

Such as? how can they prove you can't see? they tell you to open your eye and the fake jamming a pen in it? You can be blind enough to get benefits from the state, but you can still see a pen coming at your eye if it's close enough.

Well, two tests come to mind that I know of and I'm not even an opthamologocicalistist:

 

 

1) Do your eyes dialate when exposed to a bright light?

 

2) That spinning black and white contraption. Seeing eyes have a natural reaction to this thing. (I saw that one on ER.)

 

If you're faking blind - even if it's pschosomatic - both of these tests will betray you.
