Fitz signs 4 year/$40 million deal

Fitzgerald will receive a $15 million signing bonus Tuesday. His base salary will be $2 million, giving him a $17 million payout this year. He has a $5 million option bonus in 2009. Over the four years of his contract, he will receive $30 million in guarantees.

 

The new deal will save the team $8.842 million in cap room, dropping his salary cap number from $16,485,000 to $7,643,334.

As an Eagles fan, it stinks, but as a Leinart owner in a Dynasty League it's nice to see Fitz is staying put in Arizona. Now if leinart could just pull it together this year...

As a Fitz Dynasty owner, I wouldl have prefered Philly. 10+ Td's would have been a lock imo.

Either way, Fitz has done well so far in AZ, so he could have done worse.

I'm a Fitz half-keeper/half-dynasty owner, and I am glad he is staying in AZ. Who knows what happens when you change teams. Who knows how much longer the Eagles will have a pass-happy HC and McNabb at QB. Maybe Fitz could get more TDs somewhere else, but Arizona has an opportunity to continue to improve, and in the meantime we know Fitz is the focal point of the offense (whereas in Philly it's Westbrook).
