Hurricane Ditka 0 Posted March 20, 2008 Being sick has allowed me to catch some decent movies. Last weekend I figured out how to download current movies and burn them onto DVD. "Dan In Real Life" "Juno" "I am Legend" "Semi Pro" Top choice for me was Dan in Real Life. I guess because I wasn't expecting to like it. But ended up really enjoying the flick Carrell has grown on me and he was awesome in this flick. Sort of hits home for me having 4 daughters and I couldn't imagine life without the Mrs. (34C). Juno- Was a different and rather clever Phillybear type of flick. The humor was well timed and it kept my attention through out. I am Legend- Have to admit that I thought the movie was cool for the storyline. But Will Smith all by himself in the movie was just ok. Bob Marley rules. The movie was interesting, not great. Semi Pro- Hated it. I have always like Will Ferrell but this is like the 2nd straight movie where he lost me. Basically, to everyone who might go see it, Will Ferrell learned how to use the fockword in a movie. Other than that, you have seen it. Didn't like it all that much. Anyone else? IGotWorms 4,058 Posted March 20, 2008 Only one of those I have seen was Juno. The GF (smallish cans) dragged me along and I was expecting to hate it. I thought it would be one of those movies that was trying to be way too clever for it's own good (you know, like Little Miss Sunshine). Thing is, it was actually really good. I thought it was pretty funny, and also very honest. It was a movie that made you feel good at the end, but it pulled no punches in what happened to the characters. yostevo 0 Posted March 20, 2008 *spoilers* Dan in Real Life--- It really turned out to be more of a chick flick then I would have anticipated. Carrell was very good in it and you can really sympathize with his character. The family bashing him for being sort of the depressing loser of the family seemed a bit unrealistic. I mean, the man lost his wife and they rip on him constantly about the fact he's not dating anyone nor could he if he tried almost. Well focking duh. He had a pretty traumatic thing happen to him focknuts. That was a head scratcher. I got a kick out of the scene where "pig face" shows up and steals the attention away from the main chick and she's all jealous. Too damn funny and so true. Worthy of a rental I suppose with the SO but don't expect a knee slapping Carrell comedy because it's not. B American Gangster--- I believe I was mislead a bit by the previews. I understood the premise of Denzel's character and the movie in general but I fully expected more of a Crowe (good cop) vs. the evil drug dealer Denzel battle royal. That didn't really materialize. It was basically more of a tale of their two lives that happened to intersect at the very end and even when it did, it was very anticlimactic. In fact, the idea that Denzel goes from a billy bad ass who shoots a man in the head in broad daylight on a busy Harlem street into a pushover snitch who befriends Crowe seemed downright lame to me. Maybe that's how the story actually played out since it was based on a true story, but lame nonetheless. The fact that dude only served 15 years was an absolute mockery of our judicial system. Decent story that will keep you watching but left you a little empty in the end. B- Death at a Funeral--- Certainly a dark comedy(which I like) with a sprinkle of English humor.(which I'm not a real fan of)The movie starts a bit slow but gains comedic momentum and by the end I was fairly entertained with a few LOL moments. The "valium" guy certainly kept me watching early on and how could you not be entertained by gay midgets? You could do worse with a few hours of your day. kilroy69 1,247 Posted March 20, 2008 I was very let down when I watched American Gangster. I was going to watch it at the movies but the old lady decided at the last min that she wanted to see 30 days of night. After watching them both I can say that I am glad we watched 30 days of night instead.

I'm a big fan of Danny Huston (the head vampire) and he did a hell of a job. "God???...(looks up at the sky searchingly)...no God." "When man meets a force he can't destroy, he destroys himself. What a plague you are."
