FlaHawker 24 Posted June 27, 2008 You act like a b!tch on the site because the Steelers beat the Seahawks, in the SB, and you refuse to validate that fact because in your opinion, it was terrible officiating. Good or bad, officiating is apart of the game. A game in which the Seahawks lost. Clearly your bitterness bleeds into your opinion of the Steelers. How long has it been now? Like I said, I have standards. I'm sorry you and the NFL don't. Yes officiating is part of every game but when you have massive incompetence during the biggest game in sports on the biggest stage in sports and there are no consequences for that incompetence, then there is something wrong with the league. If calling the league out for not dealing with that incompetence equates to "bitching" (according to you) too bad. Like I said, you brought all this up, not me I have absolutely no bitterness towards the Steelers whatsoever; my problem is with certain Steeler fans who refused to acknowledge the incompetence of the refs in that SB and appluaded the league's conclusion that the game was cleanly officiated, but yet now complain that the league has not done enough to punish the Pats over spygate. Like I have told them, you make a deal with the devil, you live with it. If you don't stand for something you fall for anything. Too bad fans like you simply "accept" incompetence as part of the officiating experience. I think the NFL can and should do better. But feel free to keep bringing up SB XL
sirensong 111 Posted June 27, 2008 So if Barry Bonds only did steroids before MLB sanctioned anyone for using them then he shouldn't be villified for it? I agree. that's certainly half of the equation. were they against the law at the time? i was playing in 1987, and they absolutely were. what was the date of bonds' alleged infraction again? But feel free to keep bringing up SB XL You do have bitterness towards the Steelers and their fans, and it comes out in silly threads like this one. And your standards aren't based on reality, bro. Anyone who's ever played any competitive sports in their lives realize that refs and game officials are human, that they make mistakes, and that it's apart of a game. You cannot honestly tell me that the Seahawks have never received any gift calls EVER that decided the outcome of a game, can you? If you cannot understand the concept of human error, that's a shame. Too bad fans like you (aka, armchair QBs) don't know the simple realities of sports.

However, if certain Steeler fans are going to be hypocritical in their dealings with the league over the Pats I call them on it. Simple as that. Some of it is serious; some of it designed to have some fun. (Trust me it goes both ways). Mistakes are acceptable; incompetence you get fired for. Big difference. Have the refs ever made mistakes in the Seahawks favor, sure. Has a ref ever confused a 4th down signal for a TD signal and then swiched his call because, as the league stated, he was confused? Umm nope. That isn't a blown call or simply a mistake; that's incompetence. Has a ref focked up a holding call so bad the league had to change the way holds are called. Nope. That's incompetence for which nothing but a rule change was done to fix the lack of competence by a certain ref. Heck even last year the Browns were robbed of win in Zona (which cost them the playoffs) because the refs were too incompetent to get the force out rule correct. So what did the league do? A- Fire the refs for incompetence B- Change the rule to hide the refs incompetence Correct answer is, of course, B. Too bad to fans like you there is no diffference between human error and down right incompetence. But I guess that is why we have unions, to keep people like you employed

You're obviously the one with the hard on for anything Steeler related. Everyone knows the refs aren't perfect. They can't be, especially with the speed of the game. Sure, you can fire refs for missing calls. But who do you replace them with. The game's not gonna get any slower, so you better get used to it. I can say we're so glad you have all the answers.
