***Official Week 1 College Football Gambling Thread***

This is what like the 6th year I am here and ready to go.

 

If I look at the last 6 years I have had 4 winning seasons and 2 losing seasons. 1 amazing year where I made 4K and my worst year lost about 1K. I am deposited and ready to go this season.

 

Normal rules.

 

Please use units when talking wagers. (IE. 1 unit may equal $10 for some, $500 for others.)

 

Week 1 I have my eye on 10-15 games and will be posting some plays as early as today. Week 1 every year I like to jump in early and ignore the public totally. Go with some gut plays, and read up on the teams.

NCAA YTD 1-1

 

Oregon State -3 vs. Stanford (2 units)

*It will take more than a 1 game fluke from last year to not consider taking anyone -3 in an opener versus Stanford. No matter who is coaching. To open up, I will try my luck with the Beavers on the road.

 

Baylor vs. Wake Forest over 51.5 (1 unit)

*This o/u is the only bet I liked in this game. WF has some hype going and this game could be a blowout. But I want to see just how bad Baylor is before I would take a heavy favorite on the road in Texas.

 

UW +14 vs. Oregon (1 unit)

*I like Locker (even though he has been banged up the last few weeks in practice) to keep the game within reason 35-27 Ducks. Give me the 2 TD's.

 

Utah vs Michigan over 41 (8 units)

*This will be my largest play on opening weekend. Michigan will want a good showing and will throw all caution into the wind. The can NOT lose the opener or I can see everyone tossing the towel on Rods team this season. I expect a creative game that goes way over 41.

Took the entire offseason to shake off the beat down I took during last year's bowl season (0-12 ATS). I follow the Wolverines quite closely and prior to last year, I mentioned that they were vastly over rated and would be a good play against most every week. This year, I'm thinking they are actually under rated in some regard. Their defense will be strong. The best play in a lot of weeks will probably be the under considering the Rodriquez "offensive guru" status that may make the lines a little higher then they should be. Just something to consider.

Thursday I like SC -12... 2 units

 

They are supremely talented on the defensive side of the ball and NC St. is pathetic on O. Typically defenses have an advantage this early in the season anyhow. While SC offense has some question marks, particularly at QB, they do have good skill position players. I expect very few points our of NC St. in this game and a score of 27-6 wouldn't surprise me at all as I have SC winning by at least 3 TD's. Expect Spurrier to have his team fired up for an opening night, home game!

I agree with Pack Your Nut about S Carolina on Thursday.

They have a dominant defense and I look for something in the 30-10 range...

 

Vanderbilt dominated Miami O on the gorund last year but have NO O lineman back this year. They should be juniors and seniors, according to Phil Steele, but that still worries me too much to take them against an improved Miami O team on national TV.

Lean Vandy but no play as of now...

 

Lean Troy just based on reputation and outstanding showings early in previous years against top talent. But will they be fired up to play Mid Tenn State??

this is the book i have too. money was easiest to deposit over other books, its certainly the most reliable/quickest on payouts. doesn't have the best dog lines though if you like those. props are good i would say.

illinoise isn't puttin up 34 garbage points like they did last year against mizzou's nickel. mizzou returns 10 starters on D, although LB Alexander is doubtful, and they are lightyears ahead of where they were for last year's game. juice's spread offense scares me a little, but MU's experience should be able to keep it under control. noway for a 'preseason hype letdown' here. MIZZOU covers -9.5. somewhere in the land of 35-17.

Little shocked nobody has made mention of the line on UCLA-Tenn. I'm as big a Bruin backer as they come, but -7 (last I checked) seems way, WAY too low. UCLA is going to be very, very bad this season, especially early in the year. They're basically short an entire offensive line, plus both of their projected starting QBs are out for significant time (one for the season, the other for at least 6 more weeks). I can't see this being anything less than a 10 point win at minimum, personally, and I wouldn't be shocked if the Vols run away with the game easily.
