karmarooster 0 Posted September 15, 2008 according to the AP article for the NE/NYJ game, Patriots RB Laurence Maroney left early in the second quarter with a shoulder injury and didn't return until late in the fourth quarter does anyone know how serious his injury was? i guess with the pats, it will be a guessing game till next week and we see how many carries he gets. however, maroney did get a a carry in the 4th quarter with 2 minutes left, 2:21 4th NE 2nd & 5 at NYJ31 Laurence Maroney Off Right Guard to NYJ32 for -1 yards so i guess this means the injury can't be that serious. Does anyone know WTF was up with Morris??? sure he got a TD but 0 yards on 8 carries? he had several carries for negative yardage. and finally, is Lamont jordan worth a WW claim this week? I am first in line this week and wondering if he's worth burning my top spot for. is there any other WW gem from week 2? I could always hold on and use it later. It looks like there is room in the NE offense for all 4 RBs, and as such, none of them have any value.
Patriotsfatboy1 1,432 Posted September 15, 2008 Maroney did come back into the game. He was taking a pounding early on because he was back to his dancing ways instead of hitting the hole. Morris was the recipient of some bad play calling. When he was running the ball, they were on him right at the handoff. Faulk looked good catching the ball and was just like he has been in the past. Jordan was hitting the holes hard and taking what the defense was giving him along with Cassel getting more confident. He looked the best out of all of the backs running the ball. With all of that said, I don't know that you want to rely on any one of them for anything other than a flex start. Many teams have a two-headed monster at RB. The Pats are going with a 4-headed monster.
TD Ryan2 316 Posted September 15, 2008 I've been posting/preaching about the NE RB situation all along. Every one will have a role. They will all play. Maroney is probably the least versatile out of them all as he doesn't block or catch as well as Morris, Jordan, Faulk, Evans. Really, until there's an injury (and not just the weekly 'tweak' that Maroney has), none of these guys can be counted on for steady production. If/When the pack thins, whoever is left will be gold. I disagree that, if the herd thins, that they will have an every down back that will be worth it. I believe that they will spread the ball around and rotate guys in. Heath Evans would get more carries and if one goes down, there is Green-Ellis sitting on the practice squad. It is back to pre-2007, when no one on the Pats will be a good fantasy play. kutulu 1,664 Posted September 15, 2008 Jordon looked the best, by far, IMO.
TUM301 10 Posted September 15, 2008 It`s tough but the workload at N E RB will definetly increase with Cassell but we all know that. Maroney, the staff must be getting sick of the knicked up stuff. Out of the other 3 players the RB that has the best all around game( run hard, catch and blitz pickup) is L Jordan. Even with that, the "main" RB in NE still gets only 14-18 touches a game. If Jordan is out there pick him up ASAP, Belichick likes his hard nose approach.
Monochrome 0 Posted September 15, 2008 Just dropped Maroney for Jordan. NE will try to control the clock in games I would imagine, and Jordan is the ideal grinder.
