Realistically, how can I improve this team?

Recommended Posts

I've won the last 2 titles in my dynasty league which is in it's 9th season. It's a 12 team league where all teams have 30 players (including D players).

I'm obsessed with trading to improve this team, but I'm not sure it's realistic. I've tried everything I can to get Fitzgerald or Peterson, but neither one is happening no matter what I do. Aside from getting them, do you have any thoughts on what I can do to improve?

QBs:

Cutler,

Matt Ryan

RBs:

Marion Barber,

Chris Johnson,

DeAngelo Williams,

John Stewart,

McFadden,

Michael Bush,

Norwood,

Danny Ware,

WRs:

Calvin Johnson,

Andre Johnson,

Greg Jennings,

Antonio Bryant,

Dominick Hixon,

Austin Miles,

A couple other I'll cut before our rookie draft

Draft picks:

Round 1, pick 10

Round 1, pick 12

No other picks until round 4.

Mostly, I'm concerned about my RBs. I'm uneasy about Barber and the Carolina and Oakland RBs seem destined for RBBC.

Any thoughts on what may help? Perhaps a better RB or QB?

Can you package a player and pick to move up in the draft to grab Moreno or Greene? Maybe try to make a deal for a guy like Mendenhall or Felix Jones? Those are young guys with upside that you won't have to give up the store for. I think one of McFadden or Bush will emerge to give you a solid, 3rd RB. Tough call.

i wouldnt feel comfortable with Barber... Im ok with DeAngelo especially since you have JStew..... but I would perhaps try to package Barber and something for MJD? or maybe be bold and trade Barber AND Williams for a star back and draft pick?

I actually don't trust MJD enough to trade a lot to get him. I don't question his talent in any way, but going into a possible 300 touch season I'm not overly confident in how well he'll hold up. I don't have any good reasoning for this thinking...just kinda a gut feeling.

I have tried to get Felix Jones as I think he'd be very valuable to have with Barber. Unfortunately, the team that has him values him very high. I've attempted to overpay for him twice and was turned down both times. Eventually, I had to accept that it wasn't worth it.

I think I may try to move into the top couple of picks in the draft to get Chris Wells or Moreno. While Wells has durability concerns and isn't a clear cut starter yet, I have the most confidence in his talent out of any RB in this year's crop. It's probably a bit of a gamble, but I was hesitant to trade into the top spot to get Peterson as a rookie because of his durability concerns. Still kicking myself for that...

I agree on Barber, you should move him while his value is still high to some people. I might try Cutler/1.12 for Rodgers. I would probably hold Deangelo since you have Stewart already

No need to lust for Fitz when you have that much talent at WR already.

I think I'm mostly echoing the advice of others here. Between Cutler and Ryan, you're pretty solid at QB--I think platooning those two can give you steady top-10 QB production for the next few seasons--but you could trade one of them and a draft pick for someone you might prefer as an every-week starter. If you want to get really tricky, you could try to trade one of your backs (Barber does seem the best candidate though I'd keep him if this is PPR) for a better QB, and then move Cutler or Ryan + a draft pick for a higher draft pick, grabbing Moreno, Wells, or Brown.

Ultimately, you're probably fine if you stay put. It make make for a boring offseason, but you won the last two years and all of your talent is young with considerable upside.
