LT/Sproles owners unite here

Recommended Posts

The first 12 picks were RBs.

I wanted Gore...he went ahead of me. Johnson went already too.

Nice try though.

Should have went with Brees or Moss then. Point being, if you don't think LT is elite anymore, why are you wasting a first round pick on him?

Went with Moss in the 2nd.

Because I wanted an RB that was going to likely give me solid numbers on the year in the first. And he still likely will do that.

Its the end of the 1st round...its not like I took him 4th overall expecting 1500 and 20 TDs.

Elite RBs were off the board.

I put it to you this way...how long was Rudi Johnson a 1st round pick. And was he ever really elite?

No...he was there for putting up consistent solid numbers.

After a certain point in the first round...you are not getting the elite RB anymore.

I knew that going in with the pick. I waivered between Jackson and Tomlinson...took LT.

Brees...nah, I don't take QB that early. In the end, I will be better off with LT at RB than I would be without him.

I own LT in one PPR league and am probably one of two people (his wife is the other one) who thinks he's still a top 10 fantasy RB. But if anything, I'm realistic about his chances of contributing anytime soon. If he sits out this week (very likely), then next week he has PIT and in Week 5, a bye. The Sproles owner in my league offered me a trade of LT for Brandon Jacobs (I have Bradshaw) and I'm pretty sure I'm going to do it. Regardless of his start, Jacobs is probably a 12-15 TD guy who is going to get roughly the same number of catches as he did in 2007. With Sproles eating significantly into LT's passing game work, isn't Jacobs just a younger fantasy version of "old LT".

So, what do we all think LT's value is at this current moment?

An additional note...I also have Ronnie Brown and Ray Rice, so between those two and the Giants' RB, I've been assured that I can turn two of those RBs around in a deal to get MJD. I tend to believe I like MJD and Ronnie or MJD and the Giants RBs better than I do LT and Ronnie...agree?

Love to hear your thoughts...good or bad.

If I saw LT on the waiver wire, I'd have to think a little bit before wasting my 8th waiver wire priority on him. As stated earlier in the thread, he's not going to do anything in week 3 for you. Week 4 it's very doubtful he'll be starting fantasy material against a tough run defense in Pittsburgh. And on week #5 he's on a bye. So no, I would not give up a healthy Brandon Jacobs for LT right now.

Pull the trigger. I used to hold out hope that LT would return to his old form, I bought in to all his talk during the summer. But after having him all last year and starting this year with him it just isn't going to happen. After watching the first Monday night game, even before the ankle, he looked old and slow. Jacobs started out slow but there's no way the Giants running game doesn't get going soon. If you don't have Sproles I would be getting rid of LT the second you get an offer like Jacobs. If you can also trade Rice and Brown for MJD I want to know what the other guy is thinking? MJD and the Giants RBs, wouldn't think twice about it.

Look at the Chargers' projected line before the season and now...

Then:

LT Marcus McNeill - has been fighting an illness, has fought another injury this season if memory serves

LG Kris Dielman - has been fighting an illness

C Nick Hardwick - Out til December (may go on IR)

RG Louis Vasquez - Rookie struggling with knee problems

RT Jeromey Clary

Now:

LT Marcus McNeill

LG Kris Dielman

C Scott Mruczkowski

RG Tyronne Green

RT Jeromey Clary

For someone who appreciates o-line play as much as I do in relation to how it affects fantasy RBs, I knew not to get too giddy over LT this season. But the current right side of the line is almost a joke at this point run-blocking and I haven't seen the same quality play from McNeill or Deilman since LT's record-breaking season. Furthermore, Jacob Hester isn't Lorenzo Neal. It pains me because I do like LT, but if LT has lost a step, then his blocking has lost two. Then again, isn't it obvious LT would have lost a little bit of quickness.

In the end, LT still has enough left in the tank to be productive - I really believe that. But if Norv insists on giving Sproles all the catches and the run-blocking stinks, I guess I have no choice but to deal LT, eh?

Just did the deal for Jacobs...now I guess we'll see if the commish votes the deal down. But I feel good about it and Jacob's schedule going forward while LT faces the Titans' defense in Week 16...as of right now, YIKES! I'm expecting big things from Jacobs starting this week! :overhead:
