notJames 0 Posted October 23, 2009 Luckily one of them plays in the 4pm Sunday game and the other is in the MNF game, so I have plenty of time to switch if I need to. They're both comparable WRs, but I don't know which one to use. Austin is the hot hand, he's starting, and every one and their mother is touting him as not a fluke. But I don't want to trust him until I see him perform consistently, and one 250 yd game out of five is not enough. Alternatively, McNabb doles the ball out to so many guys that Jackson isn't assured a good outing week in and week out. I'm more inclined to start him because he also returns punts, but I'm worried that WAS's secondary is better than average and that they'll keep my guy bottled up. Who do I start? Naturally, I'll answer all your questions in return. Thanks in advance...
madd futher mucker 36 Posted October 23, 2009 Miles Austin, but it is close.
Folger71 0 Posted October 23, 2009 Given that Jackson has been targeted 14 more times this season than Austin (41 vs. 27) and the fact that Austin had 5 catches for 81 yards in 4 games prior to blowing up in week 5... I go with DeSean. I still view DeSean as a weekly starter... perhaps erroneously, but he has the capacity to take one to the house any time he is targeted even though Kolb is no longer the QB
Andrew Martinez 0 Posted October 24, 2009 Usually it would be Jackson. But with austin taking over as starter, that changed. Alot of people are saying that the DAL vs ATL game is going to be a shoot-out, if it is go with Austin. If your league gives points for PR and KR start Jackson. Overall, I would give the nod to Austin.
notJames 0 Posted October 24, 2009 That's the problem. My league does reward individual PR and KR points (although Jackson has only been returning punts as of late). That's what's making the decision even harder. I can see PHI stifling WAS's offense, so they'll punt a lot, giving my man lots of opportunities to break one open. I like Austin's potential, but I've been burned with one-week miracles before (i.e., Massaquoi in week 5 after his big game against CIN). Not an easy decision, but thanks for the input. ProfessorP 0 Posted October 24, 2009 Of course you won't know the shoot-out in Dallas status until it's too late, but I'm counting on it...even with Williams. Austin SHOULD get a lot of looks. Jackson is playing the God-forsaken Skins. Flip of the coin.
ariel23 0 Posted October 24, 2009 Tough call... as bad as the Skins have been they have been very stingy only giving up 169 passing yards per game. Add that to the game McNabb had last week.. and it makes it that much tougher. All that being said... I'd still go with DeSean as you get extra points for the returns. Remember, Austin wouldn't have had anywhere near the week he had if the Chiefs knew how to tackle and the game didnt go to OT.
Daltnator 19 Posted October 24, 2009 James, hey thanx for my reply, very thought out and thorough! As for urs I would go wit Jackson. The extra pnts for the returns should be the final push over Austin. Im a Dalls Fan and Im still not sure bout Miles. I hate to say it(and certainly hope im wrong) but Im leaning more towards a flash in the pan.Besides, there are still other options in Big D wit Witten, Crayton, Barber gettin a few, Jones gettin a few and Roy when healthy. Thats my two cents for what its worth.
Mac84 0 Posted October 24, 2009 Jeez, this is really tough. I have to lean towards Austin. He has proven time and again that he deserves to be a WR1 in Dallas. Flip a coin
ramblin'wreck 0 Posted October 24, 2009 I would lean toward Austin. He is now starting and ATL is really thin now that they lost a starting corner for the season. You can't expect 250 yards again, but 70-80 yards with a TD is reasonable. Now could you help me? http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=354969
moball 0 Posted October 24, 2009 Go for the home run potential with Austin.
ClifG 0 Posted October 24, 2009 I agree with the "home run with Austin" comment. I think it depends on your matchup. I don't think DeSean has the home-run potential but he also has less chance of being a flop (think of all the people who picked up Maclin after his big game and he gave them basically nothing the next week!). So are you and your opponent closely matched? If so I'd stick with DeSean. Are you the worse team on paper and in need of some big performances to have a chance at the win? Then go with Austin. All things being equal, I'd go with DeSean against that WAS defense. Edit: Just re-read and caught the fact that these are late games so you have a chance to decide after seeing how the rest of your team and the other team do. That gives you the advantage I think. If you're ahead or within striking distance, DeSean seems safer but if you are in need of like 18 points you might as well give Austin a spin and see if he can break out of more terrible tackling. notJames 0 Posted October 24, 2009 Good point, ClifG. Hopefully I'll be near my computer around 3.50pm EST to be able to change should I need to. As of now, I will keep DeSean in, but if the score is starting to turn in my opponent's favour, I just might plug Mr. Austin in. Thanks to all for your input. IndyFan 2 Posted October 24, 2009 ClifG nailed it. Austin if you need upside----Jackson if you want safety http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=354989
DeadRed 0 Posted October 24, 2009 Austin may blow up, but i would play Jackson here. Jackson is a safer play and he could put up very nice stats this week. I would need to see Austin stay consistent.
Michael123 0 Posted October 24, 2009 AGree that this is very close. Just feel more confident about Jackson. Could go either way tho.
pmg 0 Posted October 24, 2009 I think Jackson is the play here. He is one of the guys that still can be consistant yet have huge weeks. After last week i think the Eagles will be throwing quite a bit. your thoughts? http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=354991
