Who is Steven Jackson's handcuff?

Recommended Posts

Rotoworld says Darby but I only see Gado getting some touches each week. Just in case S.Jackson doesn't play.

FFChamps) Updating a previous report, St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson missed practice again on Thursday, and has not practiced all week, as he nurses a sore back and deals with occasional spasms. Coach Steve Spagnuolo said the status of Jackson "could go either way" for Sunday's tilt against the Seattle Seahawks, but added that he is "thinking positive" about the the prospects of having his team's offensive centerpiece available for duty.

Analysis: Whether Jackson practices or not is somewhat irrelevant. He is a proven superstar, and the team needs him to be at full strength on Sundays...not Wednesdays. Unlike some teams who can afford to sit a key player or two on gameday if they are the slightest bit banged-up, the Rams cannot. If he is breathing and can put one foot in front of the other, he will be in there on Sundays. Quite simply, Jackson IS the Rams' offense. With Marc Bulger out the next three to six weeks with a fractured shin bone, S-Jax will be relied upon even more (if that's possible). If Jackson can't go this weekend, Kenneth Darby would most likely get the start. The Seahawks' mediocre run D is a decent match-up for Jackson, but Darby is such an unproven commodity, we would recommend avoiding the situation and looking elsewhere in that case (rather than take a flier on Darby, even if he gets a spot start...especially considering he will never see the rock again the moment S-Jax is healthy enough to be out there). Jackson owners should seek out every bit of info they can right up until game-time, as this sounds like an injury that could get better (or worse) by the minute.

does it really matter :music_guitarred:

if SJAX goes down your not gonna want to play Gado or who ever is his backup anyway. I have SJAX and he is the only one i dont have handcuffed cause no need. If he goes down im screwed and who ever replaces him will not be worth starting. SJAX is the Rams entire offense. He is the only Ram anyone should start unless your in a 16 team league :overhead:

S-Jax sits out Thursday, but Rams optimistic

Jackson

Steven Jackson (back) missed practice again Thursday, but the Rams are optimistic about his status for Week 12.

Jackson also says he'll play against Seattle, but owners should grab Kenneth Darby as insurance. "Steven's a warrior," coach Steve Spagnuolo said. "He's not there yet and there's still a little bit of spasm there. We don’t want to take any chances, so he hasn’t practiced. It could go either way. But I guess I'm thinking positive because of who he is and the way he's been." Nov. 26 - 2:58 pm et

Gado and Darby will split carries, with Darby probably getting more (60/40) carries and Gado getting short yardage work if Sjax misses time. I will be surprised to see him miss this week's game though. I fully expect him to start.

If Sjax does miss time however, Gado and Darby have very little value. Would only pick one up in a <16 team league.

Steven Jackson misses third straight practice

Jackson

Steven Jackson (questionable, back) was held out of Rams practice for a third consecutive day Friday.

This is bad news. While coach Steve Spagnuolo indicated that S-Jax could face Seattle without any practice reps, he's waiting for pre-game warmups to decide his workhorse's availability. "I think he’s been in the league long enough that he knows he doesn’t want to hurt the team," Spags said. This is another 1PM ET game, so Jackson's status will be known around 12ET. this is not good news for us SJAX owners :shocking: Just glad it is a 1pm game and not a 4pm game. Any of those backups are not worth starting anyway. Ive got a little depth in league ive got Sjax in but no one close to SJAX. Gonna have to pick 3 RBs from LT, Slaton, Maroney, Sproles if Sjax does not play. Not best options but not worst either. :(

Ugh... I made two big trades in my main Dynasty League just before the deadline. One was for Steven Jackson and the other was for Cedric Benson. Immediately afterwards they both start showing up on the injury report - not what I was hoping for.

That said, I'd rather these guys rest up now rather than try to play through injuries only to come up lame during weeks 14-16. Those are the weeks I need them.

As for this week, I'd still say there is a fair chance Steven Jackson will play - mainly due to the nature of his injury. Back problems aren't good, but when they are spasms it seems like they come and go day-by-day and I assume the best treatment for it is rest. It's just a matter of whether Jackson's back has calmed down by the start of the game on Sunday.

If there's a risk of aggravating the injury then I hope they just decide to sit him. The last thing I'd want is for him to try to play with it only to then come out of the game as a result of the injury and miss another 1-2 weeks on top of it.

Bad timing for you. Id rather have those 2 hurt right now than in 2 weeks when playoffs start. Well that is if you are already in good position to make the playoffs right now. :( If you are a borderline playoff team than......well good luck with that :shocking:

like you said they better not play Jackson and he get hurt where he will have to sit a week or more. now that would be very bad for a bunch of folks :nono:

Yea, my hesitation in dealing for Jackson is that he always tends to get injured. He's an excellent RB when healthy, but his injury status always concerns me. He was doing so well this season though that I decided I should make a strong push for the Championship and acquire him.

We can start 3 RBs in this league, and I owned MJD, Portis, and Steve Slaton. I ended up dealing two 2010 first rounders (they'll be among the Top 6 picks) and Portis for Steven Jackson and a third. I was then able to deal another 2010 first round pick, Steve Slaton, Zach Miller and Michael Bush for Cedric Benson and a second. Plus I still have MJD, so I wanted to put a monster line-up together. I now have it, but I need these guys to be healthy for me - I'm going for a repeat after winning the inaugural season of the league last year. :shocking:

The best handcuff is a RB from another team at this point.
