Dan Sez 0 Posted August 23, 2004 In this draft the Mini-Ditkas have only 5 picks. One sent out in a trade. The team was also penalized a draft pick in June. I propose the following (if no objections to be added to the history and rules set) The team known as the Mini-Ditkas will be given one compensitory draft pick at the end of the current 6 round August draft. In effect it is a 7th rounder. Any team can veto this, since it does deal with the structure of the league mechanics. I hope all will see the need to do this with good faith. Any team may object (veto) this through public or private message to an Officer of the League Comments?
FourTwoOh 0 Posted August 23, 2004 No problem here. No need to penalize the new owner for old owners transgressions.
whoisjgalt 0 Posted August 23, 2004 Either this or extra free agent bidding points - whichever rurb or the league prefers. The pick helps out now while the bidding points wouldn't helpout until the season starts. Either is .

Scatterjack 0 Posted August 23, 2004 What if this was the June draft, would we give him a free pick then too? Just be careful becuase this will set a precedent. I'm on the fence on this one..
Dan Sez 0 Posted August 23, 2004 no, if he took over before the June draft, then the penalty (loss of a 3rd rounder) would have been suspended.
whoisjgalt 0 Posted August 23, 2004 What if this was the June draft, would we give him a free pick then too? Just be careful becuase this will set a precedent. I'm on the fence on this one.. I guess the idea is that if this were June, the team wouldn't have been punished for non-payment by dropping a pick. Punishing Swerski was legit - he did not pay. But punishing Rurb for Swerski's trangressions seems a little unfair. Regardless, a June 3rd round pick is worth alot more than an August 7th round pick. So Rurb suffers regardless but a little less this way. Also, this means that even if Swerski reappears now he's not going to get the team back. He'd be due a another punishment for another non-payment and so he cannot get a team back without it suffering one. I understand the issue about consistent rule application. Perhaps we'll need a rewrite/edit. Perhaps an 18th page is coming soon .
Dan Sez 0 Posted August 23, 2004 I plan on appending all rulings to the league document for future reference. I don't like hotshotting rules either. I want everyone to express their views, we will make a final decision and move on.

Dan Sez 0 Posted August 24, 2004 In this manner any owner can veto this move, public or private. If I don't get a firm NO by the end of the 4th round, I will assume there is no major objection. I would rather compensate the single pick than add FA bidding pionts. It is simpler, cleaner and over with quickly. Think about it and either allow it or veto it. In the big picture, there will be no less players taken by the 1st week of Free Agency than if that team had complied and executed its 3rd round pick in June. Orgazmo 2 Posted August 24, 2004 No objection. He's suffered enough.
Pale Rider 0 Posted August 24, 2004 I think the logic behind it is sound enough and there is room for objection so it isn't like it is being forced by one party on the rest. If for no reason just because of such short notice and due to not having a pick in round one it is a good thing for the league to extend some "recruiting" gratitude. As long as the logic is good and the support is sound from most to all the owners, it seems fair to me.

whoisjgalt 0 Posted August 25, 2004 The extra 7.01 pick won't officially appear as part of the fraft at RTS. A commish (DS or me) will have to add the player as if he were added via the weekly waiver process - we just won't wait 'til after week one to do so. If we were to add an extra pick to the fraft, we'd have to actually add a whole extra round and then not allow any other picks to be made after 7.01.
Dan Sez 0 Posted August 25, 2004 He has 24 hours from the last pick to post it directly or thru one of the Officers of the League. It must be posted at this site or in case of a crashed server, be broadcast via email to all other members of the league within the same time limit or the pick is forfieted. so be it. thank you all for your cooperation.
